Who still uses Terragen? Alternatives?

As the title says, who still uses terragen to create landscapes for Condor 2? Photo-real landscapes are great, but unfortunately, I don't have good sources of mountainous areas for the scenery I'm working on. Years ago when I was working on Condor 1 landscapes, we used a piece of software called Terragen, and it kinda worked. Are there alternatives for Terragen these days?

Use OSM data and seamless textures

I have found this tool extremely useful for creating sceneries. It does also has the ability to create synthetic textures using downloaded seamless textures of your choice.
