Hey fellow Soarers...
I recently bought Condor to run on my MSI TItan pro GTX 1080 gaming laptop, I also have oculus rift.
It was running beautifully until yesterday morning when I got the dreaded direct 3D error.
Short of a long story, I did all the updating of drivers, reinstalls etc but found it would only work with the VR option turned off.
I checked my notifications in oculus and saw an update ran since the night before and that morning, condor was still running so I thought maybe something didn't install right.
I've reinstalled everything including steam, oculus condor etc, nvidia apps and latest drivers...
Anyone else seeing this ??
Cheers
Andrew
Direct 3D error after Oculus update
Re: Direct 3D error after Oculus update
I am having this same issue too. It used to work just fine until 2 days back.
The new Oculus update was installed 2 days back within the tool.
I am using this with Pimax 5x+, and running Condor through PiTool and when I start a VR session, I get the error. The oculus App just opens and the error is seen when I start a VR session.
I tied uninstall and reinstalling Oculus software but the issue still remains.
Looking at the error log this is what is seen:
Condor version: 2090
Creating splash screen.
Loading cursors.
Loading fonts.
Creating controlers.
Creating client.
Creating replay.
Creating flighttrack.
Loading GUI skins.
Loading skin hash list.
Checking skin hash list.
Saving skin hash list.
Reading language.
Writing installdir.
Reading lastplayer.
Reading defaultlandscape.
Loading Setup.
Destroying splash screen.
STARTING FREE FLIGHT SIMULATION AT 1:24:26 AM.
Debug mode: False, False.
Creating window.
Oculus Rift initialization started.
ovr_Initialize OK.
ovr_Create failed with error: ovr_Create: No HMD attached..
Reading language.
Writing installdir.
Reading lastplayer.
Reading defaultlandscape.
Loading Setup.
Destroying splash screen.
SHUTTING DOWN CONDOR.
Free controlers.

Free replay.
Free flighttrack.
Free mapbitmap.

Re: Direct 3D error after Oculus update
I sent a support request to Oculus, the reply wasn't very supportive.... basically they said " it works with our stuff, talk to your developer...."
But..... condor appeared in the Oculus library and I ran it from there works a treat.....
So all is happy in my world now and my wife is happy that the " husband daycare service" is back up and functioning.
Cheers guys
