Condor Updater [NEW v1.2], when landscapes install becomes easy!

Post by BOD1 » Fri Apr 12, 2019 12:06 am

I'm proud to announce a new tool on Condor Club: Condor Updater

In few word: this application manages landscapes and patches install for you, at the right place, with 2 clicks.

It comes with an installer ( ) to properly install itself.
Many checks and features like:
- Check free disk space for archive files
- Check free disk space for unpacked landscape files
- Server install option (only necessary files are installed, no textures)
- Check archives integrity (sha256) before unpacking to ensure download is ok
- Check for missed patches on installed landscapes
- Optionaly dismiss unwanted patches
- Keep or delete archives after install
- Option to create Compressed landscape folder (gain: 25% of disk space)
- Option to create junction directory (symlink/shortcut to another directory on another disk) and install new landscapes there (transparent for Condor)
- Check Condor & Hangar version, with link to newer version if any (Hangar version 6 is not detectable yet, that's why there is a ?)
- Handle partial download with restart
- Unpack downloaded archives (or execute .exe if it's an installer)
- Delete installed landscapes
- Application, installer and uninstaller are signed to protect the innocents

Scenery pages on Condor Club will be updated soon for a better integration with Condor Updater.

Enjoy and, please, drop a comment on your experience (good or bad)!

This sentence is a bit ambiguous, I'd rather say :
- Option to create an alternate folder on another disk and to install new landscapes either in that folder or in the default Condor location.
For each landscape, a link to the alternate folder is provided by means of a "junction", which is transparent for Condor.

Hi,

Nice work!
However I have trouble with scenery installation.
I tried to install "France Sud C2" a few times : Condor Updater report a successful install each time but it only installs few files, that seem to be from only main scenery zip folder, thus skipping the 10 others zip files and leaving an incomplete install.

Any fix?

Regards

Make sure "server install" is turned off in settings. Server install will only install the files needed on a condor server, so no textures etc.

If you make a "server install" you can't fly at all on this PC because you have no map (.bmp) so you will have an error at start...!Image but this should not impact a "normal install" with textures ...

i LOVE that i can install on other drives now, my c drives over full and pretty sure 3/4 of its condor sceneries.

however
i noticed when the new Netherlands hd that was released today was added, i do not see it as an option to download
i do have an older version which i think had the copywrite lock or something on it (stick would lock full forward) its vs 2.0.2
the new 1 says it allows an aircraft carrier tow and landing 2.0.2 don't have that
is it because they have the same name? should i remove 2..0.2 will the new 1 become available if so?

btw thank you whoever created Wurtsboro/Blairstown blairstowns where www.freedomswings.org normally flies and when trump golfs (all season) wurstboro is our escape from the tfr's
so great to get to fly home turf
(the golfings threatening our existence at this point)

so about the scenery, . is there now 2 called Netherlands hd that are 2 separate sceneries or what?

Netherlands HD (v3.00) replaces v2.02, v2.02 could (must) be deleted.

is it normal to get 'waiting for slot' 1/2 way through an install
is it normal to stay in waiting for slot for over an hour?

edit over 3 hours, 1/2 way in it went into verifying.. then waiting for slot for 3 hours

edit again seem to have no connection to mirror.condor--- when i try downloading the files through the site too
