Task Database

Post by sinker » Sat May 06, 2006 12:43 pm

What about building an online database of Condor tasks?
(Has this been proposed before?)

Perhaps a system searchable by region, length, difficulty etc. Perhaps a feedback mechanism for flyers to pass comments about each flight/task?

I might be able to help others with this (I know a little PHP, SQL, JSP/Servlet etc). Traffic shouldn't be too high.

I started on building up a PHP Script to upload *.fpl files.

Now I want to get the task size.

I was wondering that the TP coordinates are in an (for me) unknown format.
Can someone tell me how to convert this TP informations?

Example:

TPName0=Le Versoud
TPPosX0=163143.25
TPPosY0=250054.03125

Should be:

45.13.150N
05.50.983E

Condor uses the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Grid.
Try searching for "UTM" on this forum.
There have been several posts in the past related to the conversion to Longitude/Latitude coordinates.

Nice one Sinker, with a bit of luck we could then do a vote for the person or person's we think did the best job of a task and have them do the next set of task's in speedbattle. What do you think.
