Online or offline .... makes no difference.
I did a "guided tour" for JJJ and others a couple of days ago and we pressed on, but not to the extreme.
Can't remember exactly, but I think JJJ did 196.something km/h without ballast.
There are various possible routes (...) even if this flight looks straight forward up and down the road.
The actual problems hidden in this flight are tactics and route selection, to speed up- and down at the correct places and outweigh extra kilometers against possible speed gained.
I know that sounds pretty vague, but that's part of the sport.
I'm also pleasantly surprised that so many pilots recognise the hidden intrigues and had a go at it.
I've also seen in the DS Log files that many pilots had multiple tries, and greatly improved their performance on each flight.
I didn't explore the route on the North side of the ridge after TP1 very well. There is wave there all over the place, but the trip through the high mountains is very risky.
I did over 200 km/h on that route, but would certainly have killed myself 3 times over if it would have been real life. Yughh!
A couple of hints for having another go?
Select 15 meter class for this speed task, and fill it to the max.
Open- or 18m class have NO chance.
Remember that to achieve such a high average speed, you will have to constantly fly around 200-230 km/h. Just compare the speed polars of the various models.
Timing your start is essential. That's one of the challenges, and sets the correct adrenaline level.
Every second counts here.
In its latest version, it is a bit easier because there is a window marker.

Don't make one single circle! Circling has a deadly effect on average speed.
There may be one exception "on a certain spot" where 1 circle or a single S-turn
may outweigh that loss of time. I'm not entirely sure though...
Hang on to your water ballast, unless you are forced to take back speed below 120 km/h to make it back home safely.
Even when you turn Trojane TP as low as 900 meters, the ridges can still carry you home. That's only 300 meters above ground there, with almost 60 km to go and... well, "hair raising", but possible.
There is wave in the valley to TP1 and back to Lesce.
Don't waste time to try to gain too much height.
I will let this task run for another week then.
If you set a new record, post the .FTR file here, so others can learn.
Good luck all, fly safely and have fun!
