Let's make a test, if the organisation of an offline competition via
flighttrack forum is possible.
My plan is, that I publish a flightplan at a certain date and time,
for instance Tuesday at 19:30 UTC (20:30 MEZ). Everybody can download
it and flight the task offline. If he has finished, he can send his
IGC-file to the flighttrack forum. There are only IGCs wanted from
pilots, who have finished the task.
I assume, that the fastest are the same, who send their IGCs first. So
I look for the first 10 IGC-files, check their validity, compute the
scores and publish them. If there are more then 10 IGC files in the
forum, no more files are taken into account, so that the diskspace
can kept low.
In the flightplan you can select the wanted plane (within the class,
which is selected by the tasksetter), waterballast and CIAS. No other
settings are allowed to change. If you do so, you will disqualified.
You start as airborne with enough altitude. The startline opens in one
minute and is opened for 5 minutes. Therefore you can pass the startline
without gaining altitude. The task will take around 90 to 120 minutes.
No registration is necessary. I assume that the CN and the username
are not twice. The zipped IGC file must have the name 'CN_User', where
'CN' is the used competition number and User is the name used in the
Condor forum. You must send the zipped IGC-file to the forum.
For the calculation of the scores I use the FAI formulas with light
changes. So the maximum points are always 1000. The day factor is
always 1. The factor n2/n, needed for the determination of the speed
points, is set to 1.
If no other message appears and the Admin let us, the competition starts
on Tuesday, January 3rd at 19:30 UTC (20:30 MEZ). I will open a topic named
'Test Offline Competition Task1' and publish the flightplan of the first
task. The next task follows one week later. Planned are 3 tasks.
If you have questions or if I have overlooked an important features let
us discuss it in the forum.
I have one question to the admin. Can it cause troubles, if a lot of
people want to load the flightplan at the same time?
