Is it possible? 5000km?
Is it possible? 5000km?
Hi all,
some days ago I found the record for the longest flight of 2008 on Condor Club and it was more than 19h, which made me very surprised.
So i tested it and yes, it is possible when taking off at 3:15-3:30 and landing at 22:15-22:30.
Today I flew my 750km diploma and I'm proud of my speed which was 287,88km/h: http://www.condor-club.eu/besttimes/0/?id=2365
But then I realised that 5000km divided by 285km/h would be 17,54h which means if one can keep the speed that high it should be possible to make it over 5000km
Greatest flight of Condor Club was 2008 from "KleinerUhu" with 4001km in 16h.
Anyone tried the 5000 already?
Regards

well i think that it would be extremly hard to do this task.
1. if you manage to keep the speed at Vne all the time without flutterring the plane this is a small record, dont you think??
2.you would probably have to make a task which goes on the top of one ridge, but there is not a long ridges in condor.
3. there would be extremly hard for you to keep concentration for 19 hours

Baseball, Soccer, Football. All very masculine sports, but unlike these sports Gliding needs 2 balls to play

If only the "Auto Pilot" had terrain tracking

Re: Is it possible? 5000km?
I think I could make a terrain for that, only if I can find the DEM file
Guatemala Basin
lat 14.3068 lon -94.0044 to lat 12.0615 lon -89.1772
Elev -2687 to -13988
Now that would be a hell of a ridge race.
Of course there's the Pelorus Reef with a 23,468' drop

Nice... underwater glidingXD. Why not pitch in the mariane trench as well. 8 km's high near vertical cliffs for miles and miles.

I would if I could get the DEM's for them.
I have some submarine .obj's that would be cool
along the flight path.
If anyone finds the DEM's or geo-tiff files for one of those
trenches I'll make the map.

Re: Is it possible? 5000km?
I think, it isn't possible. My result is 4100 km:
http://www.condor-club.eu/analysis/0/?rank=108489
When you will fly 5000 km it means 18,5h flying with speed 270 km/h. No scenery with such long ridge and such long day.

Yes - on the paper nice, but day duration in EA scenery on 22-th june is about 15h - it means You need speed min 490 km/h or fly at night about 9 h

Hi to all
Just for the fun, you can, theorically, fly a little bit more of 21000 km (Twenty one thousand kilometers) with Condor in a special scenrery made for that purpose, all in multiplayer with the PA on. You have only to make a turn awake every 6 h 30, at each turn point, with an average speed of 230 km/h during 91 h 40.
But there is no interest to do it in that way !
Good dreams
