UK - weatherjack

Post by rug » Tue Jun 07, 2005 12:35 pm

Weatherjack is getting a bit excited about Saturday, with a 4W 3E.

Light NNW winds, so I'll be taking the PG to Llangollen with a view to flying to the Mynd if it's any good. Any of you lot likely to be flying out that sort of way ?

Might have a go at Parham, Brignorth, Lasham, Leicester, Parham.

Rig Friday night - early down the club Sat to fill up with water and launch by 9:00 or 9:30

well... given his recent vagueness in providing sensible forecasts... :?

I'd cross my fingers but not hold my breath, its way to far ahead to really say...

You might also notice his comment for saturday..

'Not quite so good now with low inversion and blue to ~ 3,500. '

err.. that aint a day 4 by anybodies reckoning... :(

I'm hoping for a good Sunday, ( or I am majorly in the doghouse if i go flying on Saturday.. ), and I'm not planning anything just yet..

Oh yeah, its also interclub league at Saltby this weekend, never a good combination for the weather ;)

I think you can get a far better forecast here..

Still, fingers crossed, its about time we had some summer !!

Toby

ps as you might guess I'm not Jack's biggest fan....

come fly in Oz people. There is a club 30 mins up the road from us that has had a 300km flown from it in every month of the year :-)

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah - Don't depress me even more. I spent 30 years in South Africa. Now that IS soaring country.

So did anyone actually do anything at the weekend ?

It was absolute pants where I was, ended up spending 2 days digging a trench to put mains water into my caravan at the gliding club :?

Oh, and typically its absolutely steaming down here in Newbury today, seen 5 gliders racing past already

A PG pilot in scotland flew a surprising 95k dog-leg from Anoach Mor. I had some 'family time'.

Parham, Petersfield West,Lasham clubhouse, Petersfield west, Parham all in about an hour and a half ( about 120 km ) Best bit was Petersfield west to Parham at an average groundspeed of 240 kph.

8 knots to 5000' but at Lasham it went 8/8ths and turned to c**p

Fantastic convergence along the coast, spent an hour messing about beating back and forth along it dragging one wing in and one wing out. Got a bunch of pics but only on my 'phones camera and still working out how to get them off it!

Oh! Also had a near-miss with a piper cherokee. air-prox report to go to the CAA.
