First human flight celebration

Jean-Marie le Bris was the first man to fly, 150 years ago. To celebrate this, some gliders have flown this week-end (launch by winch!) from the britanny beach (extrem west of France) where he did the first flight.

Unfortunately, the Twin has crashed in the sea, the pilot has been surprised by the "mirror" effect (you think you are at 10m above the sea and in fact you are at only 1) at the end of the day during a low pass.
No one was injuried, but very shocked and the glider has to go back to manufacturer.

Quite a brilliant gesture towards a great historical feat there...

Its amazing how much we can do with gliding that you can't do with any other airsport in the world...

wow! Must have been really funny there... :) But I think the seawater isn't so good for the gliders :? :wink:
