6 gliders stolen in Denmark

Post by hhkristensen » Fri Nov 03, 2017 3:16 pm

TO ALL MY INTERNATIONAL CONTACTS:
6 GLIDERS STOLEN FROM MY CLUB THIS WEEK!
The gliders are of following registrations and types:
Duo Discus T (OY-RAX)
LS6 18w (OY-XRG)
LS4 (OY-XRF)
LS4 (OY-XPX)
DG 400 (OY-XPD)
Pegase (OY-RGX)
THe gliders were all sitting in their trailers inside (!) our hangar - the hangar was broken into and the gliders were removed from their trailers and loaded (probably) onto a truck
The theft has happened sometime between monday evening and thursday 11 am this week from the gliding club "Aviator" located at EKVH.
Please keep your eyes and ears open and tell us if you see or hear anything suspicious
AND PLEASE SHARE this in other glider forums as well.
Thank you!

Shocking and depressing and almost impossible to fathom.

With only two having engines its maybe more likely to be ********s connected with gliding itself which really beggars belief.

I've seen it mentioned on gliderpilot.net and no doubt the national bodies and main repairers are being advised but the act prompts far more questions than my mind can think of answers and most of the questions begin WHY???, WHY????, WHY???? and WHY THAT WAY????? and WHY SIX IN ONE HIT???? AND WHY FROM ONE PLACE AT ONE TIME???

There can't be many places on the planet and certainly not in Europe where half a dozen pre-used glassfibre gliders (and motorglider) could appear whole and be useable or of substantial value - perhaps someone with international knowledge of such things could arrive at the most likely destinations.

If the gliders have been taken whole perhaps their electrics might one day soon be switched on - do they have FLARM fitted and if so is there perhaps a chance that OGN or the suppliers could be asked to keep a 24/7 watch for signals matching the serial numbers/registrations. There may not be many FLARM receivers where they will be taken but you never know.

Sympathies to the club and owners and I'll certainly be keeping an ear to the ground.

Since it makes so little sense to a normal person, is it paranoia to link this to a possible future terrorist act?

It seems to be a bad case of "illustrating picture". The picture is from 2010 and the glider looked quite different on picture from this September. The offer is now without a picture and the text was updated with information that the glider is registered in Germany (not to mention it had different build year and serial number than OY-XRG from the start).
