Hi Zeb, and welcome to Condor.
Btw, nice Avatar!

The reason why I remember how things were done "in the old times" is, that I'm an FAI Official Observer.
To be more precise, in the subject era I wasn't there yet.

FAI sporting code

2.1.1 a. SILVER DISTANCE a flight on a straight course of at least 50 kilometres.

I declared my height and diamond goal diamonds on a silver badge for a while until I managed the 500km distance. The 300km damond goal has to be done out and return or over a proper FAI triangle.( see The 300 I did for silver was over a quad in a competition so it didn't qualify for the Gold badge. I subsequently flew a 400 triangle and then a 600 out and return for the other diamonds.

1000km next and my lovely wife has given me permission to go to Patagonia to try for a 2000!

I think beginners, and maybe the others, will find there the joy that the advanced virtual pilots find in the different cups hosted presently without the frustation induced by the difficulty.

Consult this link to know the different tasks I speak about:
http://www.fai.org/gliding/badges/

I will try to host the 50km part of the Silver badge these days around 2230-2300 GMT.
To reproduce the difficulty I know more or less about this kind of task here in Belgium, only FOX will be allowed (We use oldtimers) and in thermal conditions.
Thus, learn your map carefully, and work your sensations because there is no audio vario.
The turnpoint helper is activated on 20 km and there are 3TP: Start, intermediate TP (at 25 km) and Finish.
So there are little parts without help.

Interested?
Say it here!

P.S.
It will be a BETA task to evaluate the difficulty.
I would like to implement an "official" database "Hitzi-like" in the future to record the data.
If Hitzi is able to offer that,... ;-)
But I need also some good pilots to help me to set difficulty.

Thankyou!
I agree with you point. And i am quite interested with the policy. And i can suggest to use <spam deleted by OXO  >

Middle aged spread and sale of a business has put paid to my gliding time at the moment ( mostly middle aged spread and too many steak dinners if I'm honest :) )

Had to turn to the dark side and I've just purchased this

Hoping to find a Stemme at some time in the future though.

11 years... I'm impressed.
Maybe some return could be fun.
Good flights.
