How to join competitions

Post by Urpethdj » Wed Mar 18, 2015 5:32 pm

I am new to condor. Having grasped the basics, I thought I would try a competition.

However, when I go into the multi player section, the area is blank, even when I press refresh. Should I be doing something else?

A beginners comp would be a good start if such a thing exists?

Thanks

When you say "the multi-player section", is that within Condor itself, or within this link http://www.condorsoaring.com/serverlist.php

The multi-player section is launched automatically when you click on a server from that list (if it doesn't, try some of the ideas in this link http://forum.condorsoaring.com/viewtopic.php?t=2867 ) Most hosters use the Dedicated Server application to host tasks.

Many thanks.

I was just going to the multi player section within condor app itself. I will try the server list you have kindly sent tomorrow.

Helps if you state your location in your profile: you want to join a server which isn't too many time zones away :)

Dave,

I run a server every Tuesday evening: unfortunately this coming Tuesday (24th March) I have had to cancel due to work commitments (it is financial end of year at the engineering firm where I work).

You are very welcome to join us the following Tuesday (31st March): see the Return of Beastly Soaring thread for relevant details.

server list

You need to enter the host address and description to allow multiplayer to access it. I have never actually got it to work although I use Condor Dedicated Server to host.

Generally it is much easier to go to http://www.soaringsim.com/serverlist.php to look for a server, although you may need to apply the fixes in this thread http://forum.condorsoaring.com/viewtopic.php?t=2867 to make the server launch Condor automatically.

Once the game is launched by the browser, the multiplayer screen will appear again, but you only need to enter the password (if needed). If the server is a competition one you will need to have registered for the competition previously, and you will have received the password by e-mail.
