I am really enjoying this tour of the California scenery. I also like the rally, start where we finish idea. I would like to see us continuing north on the west of the scenery as far as we can go visiting notable areas and then coming back south on the east side with maybe a visit to Edwards Air Force Base included. Happy to go with whatever others would like.

Can I suggest a half circle start and finish zones.

My flight track will not load to Condor Club or even able to view it on Condor Analyse.

Never mind I got to "Trout Lake".

Hmmmm ...... I can take little credit for setting that one.

To cut a long story short, we decided to land short at Trout Lake. As Andy's picture shows, It has no trout and does not appear to be a lake, but, never mind.

BeastFromTheEast - crashed at original TP1 after virtual cockpit control system failure

Much hilarity was caused by my entire PC having a massive spanner, caused initially by the control system flaking out, and jamming the webcam microphone open permanently (with the result that certain comments I made, about my handiwork, rather than my colleagues, were unwittingly broadcast to all airborne Beasts). By Mount Hood I had regained some control of my renegade system, enough to advise all concerned to land short.

I would like to start from Trout Lake next week, but can people advise if they want a thermal or wave task(if the latter I will test fly it throughly to make sure it all works).

I told you I don't make decisions! My vote is: Do whatever you want (task wise!)

For the record, my time was 1h 32m 21s
From that it would appear that I won - but as we all know, I was lagging that far behind, the other 2 had to back track, to get the early finish.

And to prove that technology does not compensate for sheer incompetence, see how even with external tablet running XCSoar,
with all the detailed info,I managed to guide us to a field 1.2km from Trout Lake airfield....

Fine by me, but the last leg was a bit boring and maybe tricky to start from on the next leg. Can I suggest a goal that will be more applicable to the next leg whereever that may be heading in your plan.

More problems with the V cockpit resulted in some hasty microchip replacement and reprogramming, but I eventually completed the task, flying long into the evening after everyone else had retired to the bar.

Kudos to Andy, for authoring this task - I particularly liked the early part.

As an aside, I am reworking the control system - this is the circuit board under construction.

The small red boards are the analogue signal generators, which are interfaced with the microcontroller via i2c interfacing (a fairly standard chip-to-chip comms protocol). The microchip with the white sticker on it is the um-FPU3 maths co-processor (one of which caused the problems this evening). The four sockets on the right hand side will allow the three IMU modules and the input from the keypad to be brought onto the board.

Unfortunately chaps, I am not going to be able to run anything tonight, as I have to deal with some family issues.
