A nice task, guys ..... remember the Long Good Friday, if anyone is interested.
In other news, another project (hopefully in the air fairly shortly as the battery and folding prop are on order) Ian
There will be a start height limit ........ just haven't decided what it'll be yet See you 1900h.

Re: Return of Beastly Soaring
I have removed the password from the UK team for Glider in Patrol. Hopefully this may encourage some more UK based flyers. Additionally I am not going to able to fly on two of the dates, so unless we get more than 3 then it will be a non starter.Andy1248 wrote:I have created a team in the "Gliders in Patrol" competition. Any beastly or UK soarers that want to join to make up a team.
The team password is the usual beastly one.

Good luck with your glider, I have a few of them as well.

Don't worry too much : 5 races out of 7 are taken into ranking calculation, but you must be at least 3 pilots registered.

Thanks! I have had a few powered models over the years, but the Mystique is my first glider (albeit powered ...... not many slopes in Essex)Andy1248 wrote:Good luck with your glider, I have a few of them as well.

I have started putting the tasks on club.eu just before starting the server, so anyone who appears after joining has closed can fly offline.Andy1248 wrote:Ooops! I forgot it was Tuesday

Surprisingly difficult and not a good performance from myself. I had to backtrack on a couple of occasions to find lift and had to Q away from a crash at the first turning point.
A close encounter of the RAM kind Robin closes for the kill Best Glider Parking of 2017 UK entry Ian

Terry Ventus 2CX 01:33:11 144.3km/h
RobBob Ventus 2CX 01:39:43 134.8km/h
AndyS ASG-29 01:40:48 133.4km/h
BeastFromtheEast LS 8-s 02:00:21 111.7km/h
I really muffed the start with three thermals dying on cue and wound up terrifyingly low and slow and trying to get a few hundred feet off the ridge, eventually getting away from tree top height. Curiously I had little trouble with lift during the rest of the flight, but by that stage you guys were specks on the horizon.
GiP kicks off on 4th May ...... this gives us 2 more legs. Need to have a look but I am not even sure this will get us back to Tracy (never mind Edwards AFB). EDIT: we are 698k from Edwards and 390km from Tracy.

Task map, people:
There will be a start height ..... 4000m
See you 1900h .... for the final leg of an epic journey.
RobBob Ventus2CX 01:23:36 188.7km/h
BeastFromtheEast LS8-s 01:34:10 167.50 km/h
AndyS Ventus2CX 01:37:02 162.6km/h
Our journey is concluded ........ I have not added the total distance yet but believe it to be around 3,700km across this fantastic scenery (thanks to DGT for creating it).
As discussed I will be taking a break from Beastliness next week. With GiP getting under way I will let people know when it will return. I suspect it will be in the autumn as I am looking at some very busy times at work ....... but I could look at a few one-offs in the meantime.

One off task 25 10 17
Task map, people:
Unusually for Beastliness, this is a ridge task with no thermals. I did not load water for the test flight: between TP 6 and 8 is quite tricky and I would suggest dumping any water after 6.
Open Class, see you 1930h (a touch later than usual at Kentclub's request)
Results
RobBob Nimbus 4 01:11:53 134.40 km/h
KentClub ASW 22BL 01:23:35 115.60 km/h
AndyS Nimbus 4 01:29:03 108.50 km/h
BeastFromtheEast & Spirals DNF (will probably refly, will add results when they become available).
Re-flights:
BeastFromTheEast ASW 22BL 01:22:39 116.90 km/h
Another good task in a typically red Condor sunrise, despite the misgivings during the first 15 minutes or so. It is still apparent the fancy virtual cockpit system is possibly a little too fancy for its own good, although I have a fair idea where the problem lies. Ian
