Unusually for Beastliness, this is a ridge task with no thermals. I did not load water for the test flight: between TP 6 and 8 is quite tricky and I would suggest dumping any water after 6.

Open Class, see you 1930h (a touch later than usual at Kentclub's request)

Results

RobBob Nimbus 4 01:11:53 134.40 km/h
KentClub ASW 22BL 01:23:35 115.60 km/h
AndyS Nimbus 4 01:29:03 108.50 km/h
BeastFromtheEast & Spirals DNF (will probably refly, will add results when they become available).

Re-flights:
BeastFromTheEast ASW 22BL 01:22:39 116.90 km/h

Another good task in a typically red Condor sunrise, despite the misgivings during the first 15 minutes or so. It is still apparent the fancy virtual cockpit system is possibly a little too fancy for its own good, although I have a fair idea where the problem lies.

Released today on CC. But it is 'Sod's Law', I found a texture alignment error East of London.

Working on a fix which will appear as a texture patch.

I can understand now why the Condor V2 team want to make sure all is OK before release.

Hey Beasts, I have a question for you.

What lift would be expected at ridge height at Dunstable, in a 15kt NW wind?

Sounds like one for Olympia. I have not flown on the dunstable ridge but have on the RAF Halton ridge many times. 15kts on the face would be very soarable. Not sure what the figure would be, probably 2 to 3 kts close in, decreasing with height to zero sink at about 1300ft QFE.

Ready to be shot down on this.

The patch to fix the small texture error East of London is complete and has been uploaded to CC.

The patch will unfortunately change the scenery version number from 1 to 1.1. So for any online flying all must have the same version.

The patch should be available for download soon.

Any Beastly flyers fed up with the cold weather and want to fly a task?

SE UK scenery

I did notice a few mismatches in the scenery so will have a go with that patch shortly. Overall, though, the scenery is very good and extremely detailed.

Unfortunately I will not be able to do much else this week as my father's funeral is on Wednesday and I have been booked out making all the arrangements. However, next week is a possibility.

I've been enjoying this new scenery. Flying from Lasham looks so much better than the previous scenery I was using. It is making practicing for my Nav test using a chart much easier than before too! It's also great to see all the turn points I use flying a local task for practice present in this new scenery. Excellent work Andy

Thanks Paul. Nice to get a bit of feedback.

The fix to the textures east of London has been uploaded to Condor Club, just waiting on Thierry to put it on line.

The patch to fix the textures error and other minor tweaks is now available for download from Condor Club. It will change version number from 1 to 1.1. For all to fly online, all must the same version.

Andy. Thought I'd let you know a little issue I've found with the new SE UK scenery (v1). I've just setup a flight to take off from Nympsfield and using aerotow or winch it is impossible to launch due to the terrain mapping. Also it only ever launches me on a Westerly heading even if I set wind to come from the East. I'm not sure whether the scenery file or Condor determines launch direction though?

Cheers
Paul
