Soaring on heaven
Re: Soaring on heaven
Hi all
Today is in operation a new scoring system. Three classes(18m class, Real class and Club class) with index handicap now. Five classes(15m class, Open Class, Power class, Standard classand Ridge Class) without index handicap.
DAeC(18m class and Real class) and IGC(Club class) index handicap is applied to your current speed.
It is the right sort all results.
Applies to speed because the system 24/7 are no points for the result, only the current speed.
Why 18m class?
Here is not only super planes with flaps (ASG29,etc.), but here is also good planes without flaps (LS8s,etc.)
Why Real class?
This is the only one class, where you can use the water ballast for the all classes planes(also Club class planes) and all planes must be sorted by performance.
In Club class?
There must be sorted by performance.
So ,how it works:(This is only example)
Your current speed is 120km/h,you fly with asg29.
This plane have an index 120. Obtain a coefficient: 120:100=1,20
Calculation: 120:1,20=100
So ,your actually speed with index handicap is 100km/h
Or:
Your current speed is 100km/h,you fly with asw15.
This plane have an index 98. Obtain a coefficient: 98:100=0,98
Calculation: 100:0,98=102,04
Your actually speed with index handicap is 102,04km/h
So, in this example asw15 gets easily asg29 in the result.
Results is the same as in the points system.
Good luck everybody

Hi Jerry,
What's the chance of getting a dedicated TeamSpeak server for use in the SOH servers?
I've had a go at a few of the SOH tasks and it gets a little hard to fly and type at the same time (especially the power race).
I thought it would be good if there was a link to a TS server for each task in the briefing or something. That way it would almost be like tuning in to the local glider frequency for the task area.
Is this an easy enough thing to do?
Thanks,
Tails

It would be nice, but only if someone host Teamspeak Server and if someone wanted to work with SOH 24 hours daily, 7 days a week.
If someone was willing, he would have to test the operation and quality.

Roberto, speed is recalcuted with DAeC index, is okrobyfly wrote:hi Jerry

I didn't know how it works,
adjust speed instead points..
thx
Re: Soaring on heaven
Something is wrong with the tasks.
I tried to do a flight a couple of nights ago, and again tonight and I just can't get going.
In power I just sit in the air, the winch wont start for the ridge and the tow pilot won't even strt the engine in the other tasks.

Re: Soaring on heaven
Maybe is good to cancel one class. One is not very common (Ridge).
Feel free to express on this topic.
I have a plan (with this) a long time.
Ridge tasks may be in other classes (as is the case now)
Do you agree?

Re: Soaring on heaven
You got a plan, Well go with it Jerry. Us lot will fly anything

Re: Soaring on heaven
Ridge is good but by allowing all classes it becomes an 18m task. An alternative would be to always have a ridge task in one of the other tasks so all classes get to fly ridge over a period of time. Also current ridge task is nice, it requires a bit of thermal & a bit of thinking while flying to get the most out of it

Re: Soaring on heaven
No ,slow ridge
This is my flight,I have only a bit of luck and have not every day

I admit that conditions are now a bit worse, but by no means bad.
In all classes
