Virtual World Cup?

Post by UWE » Tue Oct 25, 2022 12:44 pm

On the website https://www.virtualgliding.fai.org/virtual-world-cup is announced:
"The first FAI Virtual World Cup will take place in October-December 2022."

But no more information since april....

Is there more information about the project?
Is it delayed or even stopped?

Good day everyone,

Thanks for your questions, indeed the Virtual World Cup is postponed and the website has been updated.

Several reasons why, but the main one is that the FAI was not ready yet, and we were not either.
To have the event valid and approved, we need rules. And to get rules, we need a working group. The working group has been officially created by the IGC, more news to come.
It took time but we are finally there and it is a big step to make this project move forward.

 Next week, we will announce the new dates for the FAI Virtual World Cup. Expect early 2023 or a year long event.
The format is still being discussed.

For your info, so far SGP of Chile is cancelled so there will most probably not be a parallel VSGP.
Next official event is VSGP of Australia in Gawler, 2-8 Jan 2023 followed by VSGP of South Africa 22-28 Jan 2023.
More news about SGP will come in the coming weeks, about the Serie 12. :!:

For the website & social medias, we are looking for someone who would be happy to contribute to the online posting on social media & website for the future. If you want to get involved or know someone, please send us a mail or PM!

Enjoy your week-end,
Antoine

Small update one month later:
There is a bigger news waiting. Expect announcements later in December for the 2023 schedule.

Let's make it a Christmas present :-)
Have a good week,

Antoine

We needed first to announce the e-airsports in the sporting code of the FAI, which is a much bigger news ;-)

Everything is ready (dates, venues, landscapes, rules etc..), except for the logo of the event which is coming mid-week.
You can already book a place in your calendar: February 9, February 23, March 9 and March 23.
Full schedule and venues to be unveiled this week, in between the last two VSGP events.

Enjoy the last race in Australia, for those competing!

No problem Antoine, I was just pulling your leg. and thank you for the update.

Here is the news from the FAI website : https://www.virtualgliding.fai.org/news ... rting-code

By the way, it would a good idea to "broadcast" the news in the General section of the forum to get a wider exposure for this great leap forward of our hobby.
