Competition day #6

Post by h.kreso » Sun Jan 26, 2025 8:46 am

Hi,
I can't find why I got 2 penalty points. Nothing changes, I'm just interested.

Either cloud flying or too fast over the start line. Condor-Club interpolates between a few fixes to obtain the start speed. Condor uses the instant speed at crossing the start line to determine the penalty. So if you were slowing down while crossing the start line, condor-club will report a lower speed than Condor measured.

Aren't the fixes in milliseconds though Wiek?

Not sure. Maybe Marc can tell us. I do know that Thierry interpolates to get the ground speed from the FTR.

If we round up to the first larger number, 170, that should be OK as a rule, right?

The startspeed reported in Condor-Club is NOT the same as the startspeed you had in Condor itself. As I said before. Condor Club interpolates. I checked your IGC. You were slowing down from 172 to 168 kph ground speed while crossing the start line (1 sec resolution). So while the interpolated (averaged) speed from Condor club may report a speed below 170 kph, Condor measures the instant speed when crossing the startline down to the millisecond. If that is above 170 kph, you'll get a penalty. Condor (both the standard flight computer, and the LX9070) show the actual speed you crossed the line at.

For the FAI competitions you get penalty as reported by Condor itself. You made an infringement somewhere. Could have been start speed, as you are very close to the max according to Condor club. You may have been over in Condor. Or you entered cloud somewhere.

It's possible it's a cloud penalty, I have the chat line turned off all the time, I didn't notice. Maybe that should be included in some log for later analysis

The server keeps a log of all the chats. So Antoine might be able to confirm if he feels inclined to do so.
