Condor3 and Hardware

Post by Crakob » Mon May 27, 2024 9:51 am

Hi guys, i know, its more or less guesswork. But i`m no hardwarefreak at all.......

i get a quest3 soon and have to update my 15! year old PC (updatetd with a 1660 NVIDEA years ago :)

So do you have any advice what might be apropiate for condor3 and VR.

(BTW it's a horror to me to have to move all my settings (Condor, Joystick and all the little helpers) to the new machine)

Thanks for your advice

( last suitable hardware thread i found was from 2022)

Hardware requirements for Condor 3 are not yet released. So no way to tell you for certain what you are going to need.

I presume, if a setup good for the latest microsoft sim. It should be fine for condor3 ? For Condor 2 its probably overkill ;)

I can only guess, but if I where to bet, Id bet your old PC with 1660 would be good enough for condor 3 and probably do ok-ish in VR. Whatever you upgrade it to, especially if it can handle MSFS in VR, should be plenty.

As for what to buy; get an AMD CPU with X3D. For games and sims in particular, Ryzen 7800 X3D is best bang for buck you can buy right now. Its also the fastest cpu you can buy for most sims. As for the GPU; for FS2020 in VR, whatever you can afford I guess? Not sure if anything is fast enough to guarantee smooth framerates in all conditions, but a 4070 would be a decent start; 4070 Ti or 4080 if you can spare the money. My 4070 seems to cope well with FS2020 with a 4K monitor, not sure how it would do in VR.

I can say that you will need 50GB free space to do an install of Condor 3.0

After install you get 18GB back when we delete the temp files.

thanks janjansen and chris

@janjansen I'm use my pc only for condor. (MFS wos only to kompare)
Maybe i get a new pc with the suggested x3d and all gooddies but put in an comparable gpu (to my 1660) for the time being.
And when C3 ist out, we know what is sufficient for C3 and VR.

If you are buying a new PC only for condor 3, if you can wait, I would just wait until its out and see what, if anything, needs upgrading. A 7800 X3d is probably overkill for C3, I was suggesting that more for MSFS (and DCS or other sims). Then again, its priced fairly reasonably so if you want your PC to be be ready for Condor 4 and 5... :)

If you need a new PC for other reasons, and dont want to splurge on a GPU, you can also use your old-ish 1660 in your new PC, no problem. Upgrade if or when you need to. I wouldnt buy a new "temporary" GPU, they tend to be expensive for what they are.
