Re: Condor3 and VR
Folks, Our club currently running Condor2 with a Quest 2 VR headset, Windows 11, using an NVIDIA RTX2060. PC is getting a bit old, we plan on upgrading. I've read thru the forums, it seems the new system should have at least an RTX3060 for C3.
Does that sound safe or more horsepower recommended?
Many thanks!
John

Re: Condor3 and VR
If someone experiences the same problems „3dx error“. I struggled the whole first night with my quest3 with exact this error. Only worked the first time. After that I didn‘t get condor to run anymore
In the end it was only the wrong starting sequence sequence.
I start condor (or mitiplayer) with the headset on via oculus dashboard.
If you try to start condor without the headset being connected you get the error.
Same with the link cable. It only works on a usb hub. No port on the pc would do. But it also worked with a simple usb a to usb c adapter.

Re: Condor3 and VR
Hi
Setting up XCSoar in the VR environment is no problem and it works perfectly, however there is a problem that I can't solve.
When I have adjusted XCSoar pinned and start Condor, nine times out of ten it happens that XCSoar is not visible when Condor is started in VR while
I already know when it is not right because the VR glasses show a black image and show 3 oscillating dots when starting Condor.
I then have to close Condor and go through the whole procedure again.
The second time it shows the Condor start-up page in the VR environments when Condor is started and XCSoar works as it should.
Who knows a solution or what I might be doing wrong.
Thanks,
Jan (WW)

Re: Condor3 and VR
Hi, Jan,
I also had struggled the same issue, but I hope I found the solution.
When I start flight by clicking by PC mouse, everything is OK.
However, when I start flight by using Oculus controller, black screen comes out and no XCSoar.
So, use Oculus controller to pin XCSoar on the display, then use mouse to start flight.

Hi Naoki,
Thanks for your response.
I pin XCSoare after detaching it from the screen in the VR environment, place it where I want it and that works for me too.
If I understand you correctly, you take off the Quest afterwards, start the flight with the mouse on the screen and then put the Quest back on.
I'll try that.

Re: Condor3 and VR
Jan,
Most of the time, I don't need to remove my goggle. I can use my mouse inside VR environment.
However, sometimes a mouse cursor disappear in the goggle though I don't know when it happens.
At that time, I need to remove my goggle to see a PC monitor.
It's also weird phenomena but better than disappearing XCSoar.

Re: Condor3 and VR
Sorry
But this is the V2 Forum and has nothing to do with V3 as the topic name suggests

Re: Condor3 and VR
the thread ist a little older. But since i had the same problems when i got my headset 2 month ago....
regarding XCSOR in VR
The procedere wich for works me all the time.
I prepare evething to be ready to join (or start a free flight)
start cotasa,
start XCSOAR,
have the task converted and loaded into XCSOAR,
load the landscape,
start the hotkey script to be able to zoom etc xcsor with the joystickbuttons
At least at this point one has to get the hesadset on and start oculus link and than the virtual desktop via oculus dash.
(If you start condor without the headset on you will get the "3dx error"
Only After joining the flight (and being in VR) i jump back to the oculus dash (oculus button right controller)
and i ad the xcsoar window and the cotasa windows.
I add the xcsoar window only with the plus-button on the far right side of the dashboard. (sometimes it's hidden and one have to scoll the icons to the left)
As someone described before. If "plugging" the window with the controller, one can accidently click in the xcsoar window.
I get a short blackscreen than. I also had the vr experience crash in some occasions.
Using the virtual desktop via oculus dash, ALT-TAB to have focus on xcsoar, one can manipulate xcsor using the mouse without any problem.
