Joystick mapping

Post by Sailabout » Tue Mar 16, 2021 2:15 pm

Condor2 uses the keyboard keys for most commands. As I have several free buttons on my Thrustmaster joystick, I would like to be able to map some of those buttons to some commands but I did not find any instruction about the way to do it. Is it possible? This would greatly simplify the way to use Condor2 in VR (I just got a Quest2 😊)

Well, I found the Assign controls page but it does not allow for what I wish. Except for bank, Pitch, Rudder, Airbrakes and View POV, all other command cannot be accessed by the joystick.
For example, Release, Gear, Trimmer up and Trimmer down cannot be assigned to the Joystick but only to the keyboard or to the single button of a mouse.

Are they just normal buttons or are you trying to assign to the joystick HAT?

What is the exact joystick?

Thanks

I speak of normal buttons, not the hat. My joystick is a classic Thrustmaster T Flight Stick X. When using it with Microsoft Flight Simulator, I have assigned, amongst the buttons/toggles, gear up/down, trim up/down, flaps up/down and others. . .

When using Condor2 with a 2D screen, the use of a keyboard is simple and not disturbing. In VR, you need to remove your VR goggle to find your keys on the keyboard (annoying even more so when your wear spectacles). With buttons on the joystick, you find your command rapidly. I also tried to count blindly the rows/columns on the keyboard (release R = third row, fifth position) but this is not working.

And for me, the Condor Key-pad seen on the page https://www.condorsoaring.com/news/ is only half a solution.

Normally, the buttons on your joystick should be detected by Condor.

Have you tested them with the Windows joystick calibration tool ?

I have 12 buttons available but cannot assign any of them to a Condor2 command. I though to have found a solution but the Thrustmaster software T.A.R.G.E.T. is not working with the T.Flight Stick X.

This reminds me something, I think I saw some issues with the T1600 and TARGET.

Search for "Thrustmaster" + "target" in the forum search, there are already some threads about that topic

I have been scanning Internet for Target and others . . . and did not find anything usable.

In MSFS, the assignment is very easy. In Condor2, I cannot assign buttons of my T. Flight Stick x to any command.

Questions: in Condor2, are these button assignments possible with other models or brands of joysticks? Which ones?
