error initializing Direct3D , using Oculus Rift

Post by Mistral » Thu Mar 26, 2020 3:11 pm

Condor2 works fine without VR, but crashes on start if VR box checked in setup.
No Steam apps running.
New repair of Oculus software.
Reinstal of Condor2 and its updates.
Startup .exe as Administrator

Tried modifying MSAA, windowed or not, to no avail.
Windows 10, 64 bit machine, up to date drivers

Any suggestions?

Great idea, but the error log was dated sometime back. So I looked at the other log, the time stamp for my last attempt. Ah Ha! Yep, sure enough, my error: in windows 7 compatibility mode. Condor 2 VR seems allergic to that mode.

So all is good after unchecking that compatibility mode. Thanks for having me look into that folder!

(For those who ask about why it was in compatibility mode for an older Windows version: I was trying last week to troubleshoot another problem that caused genuine error logged messages about not having a valid color integer. That was fixed by scrapping the pilot ini file and starting afresh; but I had not returned to the proper mode after; my error)
