VR2 - default view

Post by k6chris » Sat Dec 22, 2018 11:03 am

Hi there - first many congrats on the VR in Condor 2 - amazing! One issue, which may well be user error, is the default view seems to be very far back in the cockpit, namely behind the headrest / straps and the pilot's front rendering. To get a sensible view, I have to move my headset to about 30 cm of the Rift sensors - which is way closer than for other VR uses and quite difficult as I am sitting 'back' in a chair? Is there a way I can configure the software to move the view forward, to the default head position is that of the simulated pilot's head??

Thanks
Chris

same here!
I also experience a lot of "jumps" of my virtual position (even a bit outside the plane) - any ideas?

The best way to get it sync'd ie head position is to make sure you have the goggles on as soon as the loading bar appears, try using the reset view key also.

I have mirrored the image to the PC monitor - the PC view is exactly what you might expect to see, ie a pilot's eye view, whereas the VR rendering seems to be done from about 30cm back (in real terms). If I move my physical position far forward, to render the pilot's eye view correctly in VR, then the PC monitor shows an image that is zoomed into the panel.

Yes you can see outside the glider as there are 6 degrees of freedom, 3 from moving your head and another 3 from moving your chair! Normally in gliding we are strapped in, so the ability to move the chair is limited!!

Hi Tom, thanks, this worked perfectly, both the initialy view and the reset view. Many thanks for the fantastic work!

This is probably setup of your Rift sensors. Please check those.

The problem with the default eye position in Condor 2 is that when you come into the cockpit your eyes feel like they are at the top of your throat of the avatar , and your avatar chest is too far forward .The only way to get it right is to move forward and squash your body down and reset and then sit up in the cockpit , and sometimes it takes two or three iterative attempts to get in the right position . I believe we need a button mapped XYZ control for eyepoint like FSX, that will save this setting . And another thing is that every time you hit view reset , it defaults to the original eyeposition and you have to start all over again .

Had this problem too.

Kind of an easy one to fix - if it feels like you're a little far back, before VR starts,, move back a little from where you would normally sit.

After it starts up, just move forward to your normal position.

Also, you can reset your view at any time with the Oculus controller... :)

Just press the "menu" button on the right touch controller twice :D

It's only one press, then you select "reset view".

I don't use the controller to fly, only to get to this menu...

Have to try, but I think I pressed every button in controllers and didn't have any option. I thought it is because Oculus and not vive compatible.

Thank!
