Very very pretty visuals and some amazing work has gone into that Discus, but what about the way the glider performs, handling, physics etc etc?

I know where my trust lies currently on that front.

Completely agree Paul! MSFS covers a very wide range of aircraft type so it will never match Condor in regards to soaring. I find the handling of the aircraft, in most cases, in MSFS pretty poor.

I'm not sure I completely agree with posting any MSFS info on the Condor Forum either. I've been a long time supporter of Condor and I find it disrespectful to the Developers.

Fs2020 is fabulous for gliding. I was flying a high speed path along a long sharp ridge line in the alps. Absolutely intoxicating. Sure it's not very realistic but no Sim is compared to sitting in the real thing.

I have high hopes for the 40th aniversery update.
With that said, Condor 3 would be awesome if it could compete on a similar graphics level. I like flying in Condor but graphics are really bad, no matter the arguments.

Is that the conclusion of your post?

I like the very realistic way Condor is made. Have you ever flown a Grunau Baby in a lift where you could feel how the thermal works with the plane? That is amazingly well done. I want to have exact that and I don't care about "really bad" graphics, and of course I don't know what you mean with that. Landscapes where you not are able to see, if the neighbar has cutted the gras?

When I use Condor, I want to fly and imagine flying. If I want to see beautiful landscapes with 3D objects, I don't use windows, I use the door and go out where real life is.

Sorry I had to write that...

Visually, not much else I'm afraid. The aim of a sim is to be as close to realistic as possible. Look at all those airline pilots that sit in simulators training, are you telling me simulators are not good enough to learn process etc? A decent simulator also comes complete with decent flying physics and weather generating engine. Condor is the best you'll get for both of these at present. I too will take a slight visual hit to fly a sim on my PC that's as close to flying in RL as possible.

Of course if you're happy flying MSFS 2020 then that's OK too. It's unlikely you'll find many on here whose opinion matches yours though I'd think.

Also there is no reliable way to synchronise the weather in MFSF. So people can have vastly different thermal locations and strenghts in the same server.

In Condor this is guaranteed to be in synch when you join a server.

We are pleased you "get it". This is our only focus in Condor.. to get the most realism and immersion.

Some of us do. Keep up the great work Chris, Uros and team

I've flown some more... Having spent quite a few hours in Condor, I'm struggling and doesn't understand what's happening at all. Not finding lift where I expect it to be, thermals are weird and very hard to enter. No wave lift seem to exist either.

Condor realism is in another league and for that I'm grateful but I have to say, fs2020 is stunning for gliders. If simply relying on ridge lift , when it works, it's pretty damn great. Visuals really make a huge difference.

You fly to a nice looking not yet dying cloud, first sinking becomes more and suddenly you are in the lift. And here is the trick: You have to fly circles. Even birds do it that way.

If RL would be like MS thinks RL is (I never tried MSFS and I never will, reading about it is enough), birds will only fly straight ...

I'm still wondering what the word "stunning" means in this context

6266 : It seems that hkj’s post about the thermals being weird actually refers to MSFS.

I don’t find it disrespectful to chat about a major news about gliders in our simming world. What I get from discussions here and on other forums is that the eye candy in MSFS is amazing, but is NOWHERE near Condor as far as aerology and, well, soaring are concerned.
So two different products for two separate market segments, with each sim highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the other one.

If it was meant that way, I apologize very for this misunderstanding. Thanks for the hint

Yes, my comment was about fs2020 thermals.

Stunning is absolutely the correct word for flying gliders in fs2020. Looks and sounds incredible!! Flight model is not very impressive but it's not as bad as some might think, especially the third party gliders. It's a great start and a great way for people to to discover gliders!

I strongly encourage competition! It's good for all parties.
