PG and HG

Post by Mayeric » Mon Feb 08, 2010 5:17 pm

Please, please, PLEASE !! What about a hang-glider in PP2 ??? That should not be so hard !!??

Take for example a common competition HG like the AEROS Combat:
- Pitch & roll control, roll neutrality in turns
- possibility for an overdrive (VG)
- no yaw-control except the glider aerodynamics (OK, this does not work exactly as in a glider...)
- L/D around 14-16 (this might even be a bit optimistic)
- same weather model...
- no cockpit, except for an altimeter, acoustic variometer and speed sensor. A GPS with basic functions may help. (The best would be to have a Flytech/Brauninger-type GPS flight instrument, but may require too much development...).

Shifting from a L/D of 50 to a realistic HG L/D (12-15) does change a lot of things when you go X-country... this yould bring a all new experience for free-flight enthousiasts, even if the models are not 100% accurate. And the possibility of a HG W-country competition... I just can't wait !!

Paraglider would be nice also (but less of my personal priority ;-) ).

Just hope to be heard...
Mayeric

Submissions for plane pack two as far as i know have been closed for a long time, But don't worry i'm sure there will be one sooner or later as G & U are into something similar. Keep looking. :D :D

chris, you already had some paraglidng flights.
so from my point of view you know how fanatastic is it, right?
You should push the devs to bring in some paratech, ozone and advance gliders in condor.
and yes, i know, we had discussions about that and as i remember, a guy from the forum already designed a paraglider.
do you remember?

Yes I do remember. I have his model ;)

I think you'd need a lot of joysticks for all the controls on a PG.

i think you need 2 joysticks for the steering lines on y-axis and weight-shifting on the x-axis.
any comments?

Speed bar?

B-stall?

Big Ears?

speedbar also mapped on the y-axis.

b-stall mapped on buttons
big ears with coolie hat on each side.
but i think the biggest problem to develop is the collapse from physics point of view.

no, ctrl-alt-del kicks the rescue

Button1 + Select + Start + Up turns you in a nice infinity tumbling. Maybe ;-)

Seems much easier for a HG ;-) .....
x-y axis for the Center of gravity shift of the pilot (flexible wings)
a "z" axis for the variable-geometry : can be the throttle...
(and you really want to go for rigid wings: you can add a "f" for the landing flaps...)

The tricky part is to link this with the glider aerodynamics and the command response though ;-)

I dont see much point in having paragliders and hangliders in Condor, because this competition soaring simulator is mostly about performance and results, while the slow HG and PG are mostly about the unbeatable pure feeling of flight, wich u cant have while sitting in front of a pc.

But i would enjoy flying by the slow paras fellows at 200km/h and show off some maneuvers in a high performance piece of glass. So i vote yes for PG and HG.

And if its about diversity, how about that?

Some years ago there was a HG PG simulator.
I dont know if you heard of it "Hang sim" & "Micro Flight" it had also paramotors and ultralight and sailplane too.
But Condor is way much more realistic.

Hi

On microflight they change the handling of the paraglider and it's really fun now to perform some waggas and asymetric spiral...
You can edit the glider caracteristics (glider.cfg) to make it more realistic. I've done a hardcore speedriding wing by this way.

Hello all,
no news about the development of a paraglider in condor?
It will be very nice , and better than in microflight.

We aren't expecting any news, because this is just a set of ideas by forum members. Condor Team have not said anything.
