JS3 bug wiper switch is in wrong location

Post by arneh » Mon Nov 04, 2024 12:23 am

Critical bug here! :-P

The bug wiper switches in the JS3 should be located on the left side ahead of the trim. Wouldn't matter much, if it wasn't because the Condor pilot is so stupid to remove his hand from the stick to use the bug wipers when it's on the right side of the cockpit, making me lose control of the glider for a couple of seconds :-P

Can you provide a more detailed photo please. Preferably with a size reference. I don't have access to a JS3.

That was the best picture I could find, and my glider is in winter storage now where I don't have access to it. But the switches are tiny (there are two, one for each wing), maybe 15-20 mm high, and 3mm diameter. Also note that they are placed in the little recessed area, sinking maybe 1 cm down, so they stick up only a little bit from this.

Some other cockpit pictures for reference:

Thanks! No hurry, despite my hyberbole :-)
And if you feel inspired to make the Condor cockpit look more like the stunning beauty in these pictures I would be extatic ;-)

I can get you detailed pictures from my JS3 RES and would also recommend to update the model on the (inside, and outside, like Arne discribed on the other post)

I would add these points:
- changing panel layout
- moving fuses to the lower middle part of panel (like on my real life JS3 picture) to have more useful room on the panel
- use state of the art gauges with a helpful layout (like mine :D ), it could be discussed to use a AHRS instead of S10(Hawk wind)/DCU (RES Control Unit), other 18m gliders have AHRS as standard in C3. The LX9070 AHRS would be my preferd choice, but actually it does not work.
- change colors on the cockpit.dds to real life delivery (i recreated it in my Condor screenshots)
- green trim butto (see picutures of Arne)
- more orange release handle
- darker blue, leather airbrake handle + black leather flap handle
- panel colour to real life panel
- upper sides of the cockpit are more a middle toned grey
- new positon of bug wiper switch, and also reposition of other switches in a smaller real life size
- right side control panel for heaters and rudder pedal adjustment: make them like the actual state with only pedal switch

I agree with all these points. Except of course model it on my cockpit, as seen in my earlier post ;-)

That said, the brighter cockpit color is actually an option which some owners have chosen. But find the darker color much preferable :-)

He photoshopped that in. Guys, what I really need is detailed pictures of the bugwiper controls.

Sorry for making wrong hopes :D

I tried to recreate my real glider panel in Condor. So i modded the gauges, and colours.
The RES DCU Control Unit was also a mod but not as a 3D gauge model.
It is just a picture I embedded in the cockpit.dds on the rightn place (was hard to find without template).

All the other instruments are the 3D and working instruments from Condor.
You can edit the .gau file to put every instrument Condor 3 offers on the place you want.
This is also a very time consuming process to find the right parameters.

A friend wrote a programm code to make a "penal desginer" for Condor. It has still some bugs, but it helps a lot.
I hope that we can bring this to a state to publish it, so everyone can use it.

I will upload my modiefied cockpit to condor club in the next days. So you can downlad it from there.

I will have to update the cockpit mapping to make the changes requested... so you may have to do it again.
