Hi, I've been reading the guidelines for modellers and I decided to give it a try, I've started working yesterday so this is what I've done so far.
As you can see I haven't paid attention to detail, so the different parts of the fusselage aren't attached.
I do believe my fusselage section has too many vertices so I'll probably remove some later.
This is my first time modelling an airplane so don't expect much.

It's nice to hear someone is making a SZD 55.
(can't see your pictures...)
My club has a SZD 55. If you need pictures, I can take some for you.
I wish you good sucess building the 3d model.

Thank you JShieck, I don't know why images don't load, but if you right click them and open in new page they work. My club also have one so pics shouldn't be a problem hahahha

You have to make sure you use the imgur url that ends in .jpg or .png for image hosting to work
Thank you very much sisu1a I didn't know what was happening.
After having a bad time trying to merge the fin with the fuselage, I decided to delete the fuselage and use less vertexs this time.
This is the result
There is still some work to be done but know it will be easier.
Edit:
I've realized a much better way to merge the two parts

Try this. Looks much smoother. Draw the profile of the tail on top of the tailboom looking down the Z axis. Then extrude that in the Z axis scaling where necessary. To get the smooth transition you have to draw the profile a little larger than the final fin airfoil profile so you can make the fillet at the front and the sides.

do you mean drawing it as a separate mesh or into the boom itself?

Draw the shape of the fin onto the tailboom. Then select the faces inside the airfoil profile and extrude them in the Z axis (upwards)
What I usually do is search for a correct airfoil online. I then put that on a plane in the correct position where the fin is. I then move the plane down trough the tail boom mesh and put a point where the outline intersects an edge of the tailboom mesh. Once I have the outline drawn onto the boom I select the faces and extrude Z until the straight part of the fin starts. Scale it down to match the side and front view. I then add a couple of edgeloops and scale them to get the smooth transition.
I'm not at my computer right now. If you need screenshots PM me
Same procedure to get the wing extruded from the fuselage btw.

Now I get you, I've made it the other way arround, started with the airfoil at top of the fin and then I extruded it down, I can see your way is much easier, anyway the szd 55-1 fin fuses completely with the tail boom so I couldn't just use the airfoil on the boom, I mean, maybe yes but it was going to be difficult. Thank you for the advice anyway, I'll probably use it on the wing, since I haven't merge them yet
I've been doing some work on the whole tail group. It still needs some retouching and I haven't made the hole for the rudder rods, but I feel like I'm proggressing hahhaha

Tail group almost done, only some details left. I also add the wings and finished the wing merging with the fuselage.

Looks nice.
Before you go further, you need to have one of us check it for you.
