LS-1f
I thought I'd have a go at making my own glider (LS1-f) just to see whether I might be able to get something looking even a bit like it.
It was easier than I thought to do the fuselage, once I'd found a couple of drawings to model against (and i'll take some pics of my own next time it's out of it's box) ...
I might need to 'smooth' out some of the angles where I've matched the drawing but you can visibly see the change - although that might just be case of subdividing some more.
Completely stuck on how to 'cut out' the cockpit area from fuselage now though, anyone got any tips - using blender?

This will be my first glider model. It may never get finished, but I thought I would log progress here.
Similar performance to a Std Cirrus, but better looking - also I have one of these, and my friend has a Cirrus, so it feels a bit dirty flying one of those with my callsign

Re: Cutting out the cockpit
Firstly, you need more sections longitudinally.
Second, the wings must be radiussed where they join the fuselage ( if that how they are in the real plane).

Re: Cutting out the cockpit
I know I need to do some more smoothing, I plan to take a few reference photos of my actual glider next time I can.
Not sure what the term 'radiussed' means, do you mean cut holes in the fuselage for the wings to connect to as per your image? Anyway, I haven't built that area yet - there is a bit of a er... sticky out bit where the wing roots connect at the leading edge which I need to take some photos of (makes it a bit of a bugger to tape!).
The real question was how to physically cut out the cockpit area in blender; but I've had a little experiment and I think I've got a decent idea of how to do that now. Does the fuselage/canopy have to have some 'thickness' beyond a single face?

Re: Cutting out the cockpit
What I mean is that don't cut the cockpit until the fuselage is complete. Ideally get one of us to check it for you.

When you're ready with a good fuselage, pm me and I'll give you our hangouts id so we can assist

Re: LS-1f
A little more progress; fuselage feeling a lot smoother and everything feels pretty much to scale (visually and from dimensions on wikipedia at least, guess who forgot to actually measure anything to scale the reference photos...)
Wing roots are providing all sorts of issues however, since the fuselage is remarkably flat barring a small aerofoil shaped bump and a couple of circular bumps.

Re: LS-1f
They would only be seen when you crash and break the wings off, so i'm not bothered by that. If you have my Libelle, please see that I did similar with it.

Had to pause progress to have a child
Here is a rough and ready fuselage with wings/tail. Scale is pretty much spot on with the reference pics and flight manual, save a few cm!
