Why does the PDA display have 7 nm showing?

Post by ebkollgaard » Wed Jul 11, 2018 5:51 am

Can someone tell me why the PDA moving map screen shows the digit "7 nm" in the upper left. It appears on the PDA on all planes and never changes.
It doesn't bother me but I am just curious.

It’s the zoom level.

Can I ask another beginners type question. Does it stand for 7 nautical miles and does it mean the width of the screen view or the vertical distance. or none of the above?
