Copied! I didn't read you post correctly sorry!
Sorry, I did smile about the gear doors slamming shut on you. Having said that I would have pooed myself in the same situation!
In that second, I regretted not getting to say goodbye to loved ones, and resigned myself to imminent doom, but in the next second,
I decided, "try to recover stupid!"
I had other excitement in the CS too. I once gained over 3000ft altitude on a winch launch (Wire) and thought I felt heavy control friction, but found nothing on inspection.
Another time, a small thunderstorm cell rapidly developed nearby and closed in before we knew it. With no tie down gear at the opposite end of our 2200m runway, I volunteered to fly it home as a cable was available, Quickly strapped in and launched, only to hit a downburst at 700ft alt. With airspeed dropping rapidly, I released and dived at the ground, recovered airspeed as the downburst fanned out and I got in front of it, I drove it right up to the hangar doors, jumped out, pushed it in and slammed the doors shut! I decided never to try that again.
