Re: Additional Planes
I'd like to bump my posting of March 21, 2019... time flies!
"I'd like to see an LS-8/18m; I imagine the polar is well known, and changing the winglets from the neo would be required. I do note that the DG website says the LS-8neo is "sustainer prepared" ( https://www.dg-flugzeugbau.de/en/aircrafts/ls8-scneo ). In order of desire, 18m first, then sustainer. This would add a non-flapped 18m to the hangar. Those of us flying non-flapped club/standard class gliders could compete without the added complication of flaps."
I'd buy this update in an instant. It may not be competitive - but neither am I. This has a place in a complete soaring simulator.

Re: Additional Planes
Hi all,
I have some wishes/ideas for some planes: Ls4 -> Ls4 Neo, Ls8 neo -> Ls8 neo and ls8 18m and ls3 -> ls3 WL. Just a request

Re: Additional Planes
We always make the plane as delivered originally from the manufacturer. So, no aftermarket winglets as the performance data usually isn't available.GW_moin4640 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 9:02 pmHi all,

Re: Additional Planes
Aftermarket upgrades clearly create huge numbers of variants that it would be completely untenable to support.wickid wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 11:47 pmWe always make the plane as delivered originally from the manufacturer. That said, specifically in the case of the LS8, I personally would love to have it available in its original 15m configuration with the characteristic rounded wing tips, as well as in its 18m configuration (which happens to be the what matches my real-life LS8-18) - which were delivered originally from the manufacturer, Rolladen-Schneider.
This could use the existing fuselage and cockpit; indeed, on real-life LS8-18:s, the wingtip is the only thing that changes (you install either the 15m or 18m tips when you rig the glider; and the shape of the 18m wingtip is a straight continuation of the wing), so in the 3D model as well that should at least limit the amount of change needed.
Yes, the non-Neo LS-8 will perform less well (as can be seen from the fact that the LS-8 Neo has slightly higher handicaps than the non-Neo LS8, both on the BGA handibap list and the DAeC DMSt Index list), but it would bring into Condor the LS8's classic wing tip shape, as well as an 18m unflapped glider that is very pleasant to fly in real life as well.
Of course this is wishful thinking and I'm certainly not expecting this to hop high onto any priorities list. But I think that for the LS-8 in particular, adding the original rounded 15m and 18m tips would offer a lot of "bang for buck".

Re: Additional Planes
We made the LS8 as produced by DG, so with Neo winglets. That is why it is called the "DG flugzeugbau LS-8sc Neo" in the flightplanner. Extending the wing is not "that" easy but certainly doable. Making it shorter is easier. Usually when we make two span versions we make the longer one first and then shorten it. Unflapped 18 meter is not going to be very popular, and we have more important things to do right now.

Re: Additional Planes
I also think it is a valid point, with the 18m tips... I would also buy in an instant
