Artificial horizon needs too much place

Post by 6266 » Thu Aug 05, 2021 4:52 pm

Hi,

I try to give all my planes an artificial horizon, it's easy in the .gau file. Usually I only change

[TurnSlip]
FileName=TurnSlip.c3d

into

[Horizon]
FileName=Horizon.c3d

On some planes that looks not so nice, f.x. in the LS8

Is there something I can do, or is it like it is? I can find a place not so near to the border, but that's not what I really want. In the LS8 I could swap the EVario with the horizon. Are there other options?

Thanks for answer

You see the blue thing BEHIND the dashboard? That's the "problem". The size of the gauge on the dashboard is not the problem

I know :roll: Resizing the AH will make that smaller too.

The AH is designed to be central and not at the top of the panel, so theres no other solution.

Thanks, OXO, so I know now what to do, change it or accept it. BTW it's the same issue with the bottom of the panel

Here I will change the compass with the AH

Here is a horizon file I modified, not perfect, but it may suit your purposes.
Some glider panels in Condor show the excess gauge card even if it's positioned in the center.
The white space on the left side of this image is transparent. This card's partial transparency
will show up in the gauge at extreme attitudes, but it's better than having the card sticking out
into the cockpit.

This forum would not allow .bmp uploads, so I had to convert it to .png format.
Edit the file (paint.net or similar), then save it as .bmp format. Open your Condor2/gauges folder,
back up the original file by renaming it - (horizon-orig.bmp), then put this file (horizon.bmp) in
there to replace it. The original file is here below if you mess up and want it back again.

My edited horizon was corrected in vertical calibration, has an extended 45 degree ladder and uses
a green "T" marker for 45* bank angle.

6266,

perhaps you could edit this horizon card, where I have the green colour "T",
you could make a high contrast custom marker, that way you would not need
to rely on the gauge panel screws for your bank angle ?
