Airfield Team

Post by OXO » Wed Jun 20, 2018 1:09 pm

Condor 2 airfields need a different set of skills to make compared to Condor 1.

I see a number of landscape designers having difficulty. So here is an idea..

Lets form an airfield team who will make airfields, runways, grass and buildings for them.
  • Previous experience not required
  • We will teach you how to do it
  • You will learn how to make 3d models.
  • You will get an input to future improvements to Condor airfields and landscape objects
  • Of course if you already have these skills that is great
So, lets hear from any volunteers. Contact me now.. but we wont be starting on the making until October, after flying season is over!

I propose that we start with the West UK. I have a lot of data and some models already done.

Chris, here is certainly both the brightest and most practical idea to improve our sceneries!
We do not have now the sceneries Condor2 deserves, and if a lot of people just do its little bit, we can have the best of it.
It is possible to work on the future sceneries, and for example about 300 airfields in the new AA are waiting for specific installations, but it's also possible, without compatibility problems to replace the airfieldsO and airfieldsG files even in existing sceneries.

No, as you can see in Slovenia, we get great frame rates with detailed airfields.

This thread is not the place for it.. start another about your airfield frame rate issue.

Learning the ropes Building Black mountains Gliding club just building the two hangers in Blender. Getting 59 to 60 fps on my old rig, need to build a new PC this year. Can send across when complete. Would it be possible to send the condor v2 Glider’s, glider trailer’s and car caravan and land rover models. also some hedge and fence and picnic bench would be good. Can put these objects in the world folder. Would be better to have them as .obj to put them directly in the airfield 0 file in Blender but .c3d would be fine.

Obviously michaeljc13 is building the the same airfield looking good :D ,
I will send over what i have when finished for testing can use or not use bits all etc

Your trees:

It will look more realistic if you scale each one differently, and rotate so they dont all line up :)

Thats how I did the ones at Lesce Bled.

I have not used the condor tools yet, but I know a fair bit of blender, so sign me up.
I was thinking of making some
- wind turbines
- ski lifts
- high voltage electricity poles

The two last ones would ideally have wires between them, im not sure thats really doable in condor right now? Can you angle them arbitrarily?
The wind turbine would be cool if they could spin and orient themselves in to the wind like a windsock. But even as static objects, I think they could help making the scenery more alive and life-like, as they are huge and visible from far.

Also, should we not have some bushes, if thats the word, like small trees ?
