Object Editor issues with .OBJ
Object Editor issues with .OBJ
Hi all,
I made a basic 3D mast with Sketchup 2015 then exported it as .OBJ. There is only 1 material, very simple.
But I can not open it with Object Editor : Access Violation message ...
Any idea please ?

Re: Object Editor issues with .OBJ
Yes, both .MTL and .OBJ files
In Sketchup / export :
After all selected, I choose 'export', then in the window : Export result :
Always error issue in Object Editor.

I know it's a shot in the dark, but if you look inside the OBJ file, what character is used as a decimal separator? "." or ","?

Re: Object Editor issues with .OBJ
If this is the output of SketchUp, then it is seriously messed up. I cannot import it to 3D Max either, it gives me error.
Re: Object Editor issues with .OBJ
Got the files, thanks.
They open fine in Wings3d. If I then use wings3d to save them back to obj, then that works in Object Editor.
i will report this for Uros, but can I suggest you use wings for modelling?
Or at least, use it to import/export obj files for the time being?

Re: Object Editor issues with .OBJ
Ok, after searching and Many tries ... I succeeded
1 - Sketchup for modeling runway, mast and proxy, group each, then export .obj
2 - .obj import with Wings3d, then export again .obj for AirfieldG.obj and AirfieldO.obj
3 - ObjectEditor to save as .c3d
Thanks all, hope it can help others

Re: Object Editor issues with .OBJ
There is something seriously weird about Sketch Up. I would avoid using it for modelling altogether - crap software IMO
Re: Object Editor issues with .OBJ
The issue with sketchup is on our bug list, but I can't promise a speedy resolution because we are busy on other things.

2,5 years passed. Seems this issue is still present.
