Windsock
Windsock
Hi,
When I create an airport with Landscape Editor there is no 'defaut' windsock.
As I don't want to create objects (my scenery contains only airfields without buildings, etc.), is there a simple solution to put an active windsock ?
Is there somewhere a windsock object (c3d or else...) available ?
Thanks

Windsocks are described in the Condor Landscape Guide. Page 41

Re: Windsock
Hi Chris. I found a 'WindsakA.c3d' in the Condor2\World\... but there is no mast.
By the way, in the guide and about the windsock, it's a quick overview and I'm still wondering how to achieve this
It would have been nice to provide an active windsock with mast for those who don't want to spend hours on airports objects (keep it simple).
Thanks,
Andy

Re: Windsock
Its quite simple, read it again
TLDR:
Make your own mast and texture it. At the top of the mast place a small triangle (3 vertices). Name this triangle object Windsack1.
The triangle should be small, for example 2cm.
Condor will then put an animated windsock there.

Re: Windsock
Hi Chris,
May I kindly ask you to send me such a mast if you have one ?
If no ... Is it possible to use Sketchup ?
Cheers,
Andy

Re: Windsock
.OBJ export from Sketchup is ok but error message in Object Editor.
Why ?
Why ?
Re: Windsock
Make sure to only have one material per object, and be sure that your faces are triangulated. You normally can choose "Triangulate Faces" while exporting to .obj

Re: Windsock
I'm sure. 1 material, triangulated. Not ok.
Re: Windsock
After checking : Yes there are also MTL files in the folder after export.

Re: Windsock
Ok, after searching and Many tries ... I succeeded
1 - Sketchup for modeling runway, mast and proxy, group each, then export .obj
2 - .obj import with Wings3d, then export again .obj for AirfieldG.obj and AirfieldO.obj
3 - ObjectEditor to save as .c3d
Thanks all, hope it can help others

Re: Windsock
Hi. any chance that someone could create a link to a downloadable Windsock. and Fuel bowser. i am not a Landscape /airport / object developer/ Coder.. i am just an ordinary Condor user and am in awe of all you who can create lifelike objects out of nothing. Sure , i can use Landscape Editor , but only using already made objects.

Hum michaeljc!
Even if we have not enough time to explain how to do a windsock or a simple building in details, please read the Condor Landscape Guide.
You can use with Condor2 "Wings 3D", very easy to learn, to make airports and all objects.
An easy way to make a windsock and buildings with Wings 3D:
1/ Make a pole starting with a cube or a cylinder primitive, add near to it summit a triangle, starting with a tetrahedron (collapse one of its vertices to make a triangle).
No need to UV mapping, the pole will be white.
2/ For buildings start with a cube primitive scale it, put on the ground, cut 2 opposite top edges, connect them, move up this new edge you get a little house. Make a simple UVMaps, textures the map etc...
Good continuation

Re: Windsock
Important note: Windsock only works as part of the airport O file!
Alternatively to using Wings3D, you can use my AirportMaker tool and just use the O file it generates. It contains only the windsock object.
