Runway markers problem

Post by michaeljc13 » Fri Dec 20, 2024 12:31 pm

Hi . In Condor 1 and Condor 2 I have made the Talgarth airfield as accurate as in real life . There is the original runway created by Andy in the WestUk scenery.

I added two extra runways in Condor 1 and they transferred correctly into Condor 2 .

Now I tried the converter into Condor3 and everything transferred correctly except the two extra runways.

The length and orientation is correct but I now have white runway markers and these extend forward and rearward and it looks like it’s a flight path .

Has anyone had this problem and if so has anyone found a solution ?

I have attached a screenshot to show the markers floating off into the distance

I have asked before on the forum and have tried suggestions but nothing seems to work .

I might have to stick with Condor 2 for the club sim which is a shame as Condor3 weather engine etc is excellent

Provide your runway G files, to determine what the problem is.

What I meant was, attach the G file so I can have a look and possibly adjust it.
However, the images you provided are even better and show why the markers are way too long. That is because your runway lengths are way too long, i.e. the blue outlines extend much further than the actual runway. This is OK to do when you want to adjust where the ground take-off point is but you must then make a G and O file for the airport with markings that are shorter.

When you added the runways, you made the length extra long and you did not add a G and O files.
When you used the CondorUpdater to convert from V2 to V3, the program noticed that a G and O file were missing and created them. The G file has runways markers, and the O file has a windsock. The program used the length of the runway as a reference, and since the runway length is long, it made the markers long as well.

To fix the issue, edit the airport runway length with the LandscapeEditor so it doesn't exceed the airport boundary, delete the G and O files for the extra runways you added, delete the .aha, .oha and .tm3 files and run the CondorUpdater again for conversion from V2 to V3. New G and O files will be re-created and the markings should not exceed the runway boundaries.

If desired to adjust the take-off point on the runways, you can then make the runway a little longer if desired to push the take-off point closer to the end of the runway. Keep in mind though, that for on-line tasks, gliders are added behind the first glider and if there isn't enough space behind, some gliders will end up beyond the runway limits, but that is usually not a big deal as long as the surface is flat.
