Matamata Scenery

Post by hanglider » Sat Jun 20, 2020 4:24 pm

Hi all, is it possible to edit a texture file? Texture number 5705 of the Matamata scenery has an airliner on short final to
Wellington International (NZWN) from the south. Kind of an immersion killer. And I know, you're asking why I'm landing
a sailplane at an international airport? I have photoshop and tried to fix it myself but the edited .dds results in odd effects.
Thanks

Hi

This dds texture file has an alpa channel for the water effect. You can not just fix onle the texture.
If you can not wait, take a look at the instructions that are written how to make a scenery. But even then it is possible that a deviation remains visible in the texture.
Ican only update the scenery again this autumn I am to busy at the moment .

Capricorn thanks for the fix, my version of Photoshop must be too ancient and wasn't catching the
alpha or something. This scenery is wonderful, I love how you can run the beaches for ever...
or 'til you run off the end of the world, doh! Thanks again.

Hi Capricorne,

I did not mean to say that it is not possible.
I get the impression that hanglider is not following the correct procedure, so I refer him to the tutorial.
I myself have had problems with corrections in my Matamata scenery myself in the past while following the correct procedure.
No one could tell me the cause, very strange but if I made the correction on another computer, the result was correct.
There are now two dds files with water alpha that still show this problem, one can be seen from airport NZRO in a northerly direction if I remember correctly. The corrected dds files will be offered on an update at the end of the year.

I won't be home until the end of the year, so I can't provide the update earlier.

OK I see that the problem has been resolved while I was writing this

you need also add the NVIDA dds pluging to photoshop

I use the CS6 version of Photoshop....must bee 10year old, or even more...
