3D Object library for sceneries

Post by GregHart1965 » Fri Oct 18, 2019 12:39 am

Here is a link to some very detailed models for sceneries. In most cases they are Wings 3D files from which you can create the required object files.
There are some cars, planes, an ASG29 glider, a trailer being unpacked, a T hangar, people, and some trees.

Note they are highly detailed and quite large files in many cases so use sparingly for foreground objects at airports etc. The people are not rigged on a "skeleton" (I forget the technical term right now) so you will have to use rotation commands and manipulate points to animate them. If anyone is a Blender buff and can make some properly rigged people that would be awesome.

Note to admin - can you make this topic "sticky"? Then people can add to it and access it easily - thanks.

Interesting, i.e. rotating radar scanner or wind turbine. :D

No live animation. When I said 'animate' the figures I meant move into the pose you want them in.

Here is a quite cool pine tree. Low poly 6 faces, 36 vertices 36 edges.

Here is a basic car with low polys that you can use liberally. Not super detailed so suitable for mid and background placement.

I reworked this glider mapping it all to one texture and cleaning it up a bit to lower the polys. It is still a large object so use sparingly.

Tree with a full bodied canopy. Low poly 36 vertices. Suitable for background and multiple placements. Looks quite good but not from too close.

I am in a generous mood today. I was jealously hanging on to this model but as publication of my next scenery is realistically still a year off I thought I'd share this.

Ground model of JS1 glider. Three versions. The one in the foreground has a pilot in it so you can make this into a static 'flying' model by lifting it off the ground to whatever height prior to writing the .obj. Note: if you want to bank the aircraft you should drag select the whole thing then switch to vertices (press 'V') prior to rotating the model. If you do not do this the relationship between pilot and aircraft will change for the worse. The other two are a preparation (cleaning) scene complete with sexy assistant (her pony tail is mapped to a separate image - feel free to remap it - I couldn't be bothered); and a glider set up for towing behind a vehicle (you will need to lower the canopy 1 wings unit ). There are some extra bitmaps of the various human figures included so you can play around with their wardrobes (in fact you can draw your own clothes - refer to the "people" model in the same One Drive folder for a diagram of the image mapping).

Enjoy!
