Southern Norway 4 for Condor 2 released

Post by arneh » Fri Apr 06, 2018 9:29 pm

I've released my first scenery for Condor 2!

Image

It is based on my Condor 1 scenery, but reworked to support all the new Condor 2 features:
  • 30 m terrain grid
  • 8k textures
  • Dynamic shadows
  • Reflective water
  • Much more detailed runways
From before it is a fairly large scenery of 415x460 km with a lot varied terrain, and includes a lot of detail, including more than 10 000 3D-objects and dense forests (without birds now!).

Detailed airports:

Reflective water:

Varied terrain, like large, flat farmlands:

Rolling hills and wide valleys:

Europe's largest mountain plateau

Deep valleys:

Valley towns:

Europe's largest glacier:

Northern Europe's highest mountains:

Europe's tallest vertical wall:

And of course, the famous Norwegian fjords:

Scenery is available for download at condor club.
And temporarily it is also available from https://drive.google.com/open?id=19KGX_ ... p5rPmgQ_LN

Thanks for your hard work Arne. I'm looking forward to using it.

I downloaded all 7zip files, but it "can not open as archive". Initially I thought it was the file name containing two dots (SouthernNorway4.7z.001), but renaming doesn't help. Do you have any insight? Anyone else had this problem with SouthernNorway4? Other 7zip files work fine on my computer.

Edit: I'm downloading from Google Drive now. Will report back if it makes a difference.

Reporting back. The Google Drive download unzipped and installed correctly, so there's something wrong with the Condor-Club download. Your maps seem not to be proper 32-bit format, because I got a BSOD during task load saying so. Re-exporting maps in Gimp as 32-bit (41996 KB size instead of 92161 KB) solved the issue and the scenery works fine. :D
Cheers.

OK, now the file size is back to 92161 KB and it still works. Perhaps I looked at file size before Windoze fully updated it. Anywho, re-exporting in Gimp seems to fix the problem.

BOD repacked the files on condor-club, so I don't have any insight into why they might not work. But you will need to have all the files in the same directory to unpack, it will not work if you just have one or a few.

XCSoar map for Norway4 - help :-)

Post by mada2000 » Sun Apr 08, 2018 10:04 am

Really nice scenery - THX & CG
Has someone the whole map for this cenery in xcm (XCSoar) format?
This one, downloaded from XCSoar web page covers only small part of it (topology)
Generating new one doesn't help - the same. I have found the page which might help by now I have no time to study it )

A lot of lake and fjords in Norway and the reflective water is really impressive! Very good work ! :D
Also, the high snowy mountains are very successful.
The white balance is perfect without glare!

Bravo Arne.
