Of course. Yes forgot that one. It is well detailed in Jbr guide.

That's the info I needed, thanks :) I'd put the .dds files into the working directory and had no effect. I'll try converting them.

Well that doesn't work; it claims to be loading the textures when I start the terrain editor, but it's always loading the greyscale heightmappy ones, even though i've replaced several of the tiles with the .bmp version of the actual texture.

In fact, even if I rename working directory, and textures directory, it's still 'loading' them from *somewhere*.

EDIT: There must be some weird caching/temp files at play somewhere, if you bugger about renaming the directory and terrain every time you want to edit it, it will actually reload the textures. Highly annoying though.

If you have created the bmp tiles from the dds textures as per Jbr guide using the recommended tool, then the recreated textures must be placed into the working folder/terragen/texture folder (not at my pc so cannot confirm if this is correct).
Then using the landscape editor - select tools import texture tile. The editor will then load the textures and display them on the editor grid.

If you convert the .dds texture patches, you should not replace the tiles.
Replace the patches.

I made some nice flights recently around Lake District, very nice scenery indeed :D

However I found that there were quite a lot of thermals on the sea and the mudflats between Barrow-in-Furness and Blackpool.
The wind was about 15 kts from NE so the airmass shouldn't be influenced by the sea, however I'm not sure Condor takes that into account

Hence my question : shouldn't the thermal map be tweaked a bit in those zones ?

Thats my lazy scenery design. Only a very basic thermal map. It does allow thermals anywhere including over the sea.

Has this been uploaded somewhere besides condor club?
Id like to participate TchinTchin this evening, but CC seems overloaded and downloads are at dialup modem speeds.

I've got a problem. A few weeks ago my computer suffered a major crash. When up and working again, I've found that all the UK scenery had disappeared other than Scotland3, and of course the original scenery. So have downloaded again starting with NorthUK, and followed Andy's instructions, that worked OK before. Unzipped and it produced a North-UK folder with everything in it. However when I try to copy this folder and paste it into Landscapes I get a message that I haven't got permission to put it into the host folder. Tried to alter the permissions in Properties, but all I get is error messages. AFAIK, everything else on the computer works fine, as does Condor with the Scotland scenery.
Any ideas please.

In what directory did you install Condor2?
Do you have admin rights in your account?

In the C directory on an SSD, and yes. However this morning the problem has disappeared after a night's rest, and it has pasted in, and works OK.
Thanks anyway.

Further to the above, and this applies to the South East UK and West UK, whilst Condor works OK, there are many, apparently dark, blank files when viewed as large icons in Textures. I have applied the patches. In fact when flying from Camphill, it looks like night time using SE but OK in West.
By a preliminary inspection some tiles (files), where sceneries overlap, appear in one landscape correctly, but are blank in the other. Could this be just an unzipping problem, or something more fundamental?
My original UK landscapes were downloaded directly from Andy's web site, these are via Condor Club.

Maybe files got corrupted in some way?
Try a reinstall of the sceneries?

Maybe also check your drive for damaged sectors?

Tried unzipping downloads again, same result. It's strange, it is groups of files t0060.dds tp t0063.dds, t0160.dds to t0163.dds, and this repeats every 100 , t0260, t0360, t0460, and so on.

I think I had the problem that's mentioned on the South East UK thread. I'm getting there by manually unzipping and moving into the correct folder. Seems to be working so far.
