West UK

Hopefully learning from my mistakes on earlier Condor sceneries. Ha! Ha! I am going to put a beta(0.9) version of this scenery on my Google Drive and then hopefully all the bumps in runways, missing textures and iffy elevator problems will be sorted before I upload the finished version to Condor Club.

So here is the West-UK scenery, my replacement version of the old West and Wales scenery of Condor 1.

Download it from my Google Drive here:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

It is the same 7zip format as used in Condor Club, so download all the five files - West-UK 001 to 005 first before extracting the 001 file with 7zip. All the other 7zip files will then extract automatically into a West-UK scenery folder.

Please report any problems on this thread also any ideas for additional airfields or improvements.

As with the other UK sceneries this has no 3D objects, no trees and a simple thermal map.

NOTE - First snag found - The West-UK-Tex.bmp map is an output from the Condor Landscape Editor and therefore is only 24bit. Best delete this file as there are other maps and the Tex is not the default one.

I am hoping that there is no such problem with my West UK scenery. It has all been quiet so far so hoping all is ok with it.

Hi Andy, I cannot get the West UK Scenery to be recognised by Condor 2, so I'm assuming it's only for Condor 1, or have I done something wrong??

Thanks for all the hard work, much appreciated.

Chris

Definitely a Condor 2 scenery.

I have just carried out a test unzip and loaded it into my Condor 2 (removed my West UK scenery first!) and all works OK.

Therefore not sure what your problem is. I would be grateful if any other users of West-UK have had problems/success.

Post them here. When bugs are sorted I can upload the scenery to Condor Club.

I have downloaded the 5 compressed files, West-UK.7z.001 to West-UK.7z.005 When I use the 7-Zip application to unpack West-UK.7z.001 into the Condor2\Landscapes folder, it does not create a West UK sub folder, it just unpacks all the files and folders (Airports, ForestMaps etc) directly into the Landscapes folder. I have tried creating a WestUK2 subfolder manually and unpacking into that, but that does not work either??

What am I doing wrong?

I deleted the first file from my downloads, re-downloaded it from the Google drive, 7-zipped the new file and all worked. No, no idea either!

Thanks again for all the hard work.

Hi Andy, a request from the North Hill pilots, can you add them as an airfield please?!

I had a problem with the first attempt, but then this worked.
Created a new folder on the desktop, unzipped the number one file into it. This produced a West-UK folder within my desktop folder. Copied and pasted that West-UK folder into Landscapes, and it worked.
There were 2 error messages during the unzip:
1) C:\ users\David\Downloads\West-UK7x.exe No idea what this means
2) CRC failed: texture\t2062.dds. Assume one texture file may be missing.

All working for me now- Super job Andy.
First attempt was to have all files downloaded into folder on desktop, unpack 001 to Landscapes, Had the same issue as K6chris - no West UK sub folder created, just unpacking into Landscapes.
I think my issue was solved by using 7-zip to unpack (download from andy's Google page came as WinRAR format)
Extracting file 001 with 7-zip to Condor2 / Landscapes pulled all others correctly into their West UK sub folders (now enjoying testing some areas around another super scenary)

No problem to add North hill to v1. Unzip error is a bit odd. I can make a exe file which will create a folder.

I used 7-zip and chose to extract the 001 straight into my landscapes folder. Same happened to me. All files extracted but no West-UK folder was created. Then I stupidly created a folder called West_UK not realising that the folder name is important!

All working now though. Fantastic work Andy as ever

Hello Andy!
Thanks for your sceneries and your work and time!
I downloaded five 7zips but have errors in some *.dds files - unf. dunno which split pack is corrupt. And 7zip can't tell in fact. Could you make md5 checksums of your 7z files? Will be easier to find transfer errors. :)

Ref checksums on the 7z files, I do not know how to do this (cannot see any checksum option in 7z). If you can tell me I will do it.

When I use the 7z software to extract the files it creates a folder called 'West-Uk' with all the files/folders inside.

I cannot guarantee the same results if other unzip software is used.

Ref 'North Hill' I have made a patch for the scenery (West-UK-Patch0-91) which adds the North Hill airfield. As the terrain is changed the patch includes new hash files and HeightMaps and ForrestMaps folders and will have a new version number (0.91). The patch contains all this, unzip and overwrite the exsisting files and folders.

This patch is not essential but the North Hill airfield will be included in the final version which I will upload to Condor Club.

If on multi-player all users must be on the same version.

The patch is on my google drive.

There are many tools you can create and verify checksums, e.g:

https://github.com/gurnec/HashCheck/releases/tag/v2.4.0 ("Open source, free, user-friendly, practical, useful, lightweight...")
https://www.ov2.eu/programs/rapidcrc-unicode

http://compressme.net/

Proper checksums of West UK files:

As requested I have carried out a MD5 sumcheck of the original files which were uploaded to my drive. Here are the results:

875465fb44b249a616bfa35dbf2e561f *West-UK.7z.001
aec45d2791e7d1e8f35ac4ee166cf07c *West-UK.7z.002

12adb80b03bc48115c41c5a3279813b5 *West-UK-Patch0-91.7z

They are the same as yours. As I said before, I recommend that the files are extracted using the 7z software which created the files. Any other method may have errors. 7z is a free download.

Hello!
Now it is OK, but as I didn't know which fail - I downloaded all files again. :)
BTW I have used 7-zip - for me it was (probably very small) transfer errors in two files of five so several dds was wrong.
Anyway - would be great to have md5 for big files in the future. Thanks in advance! :)
