No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
Hello,
I'm struggling with another problem now I created a smaller version of my latest map, but something went wrong.
If I open the LandscapeEditor and choose my map, there is no Texture visible. It's just black. The .bmp picture from the RawToTrn.exe is completely green. I tried to create a new one several times, but nothing changes...
And where exactly in the Guide is the part of creating this .bmp? Somehow I can't find it anymore...
Hopefully
Jannes

Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
BMP from RawToTrn is not needed. Initial textures in Landscape Editor are created from the height data by the Landscape Editor itself. If the terrain in RawToTrn is solid green rectangle, then full black terrain textures made from heightmap are correct -- since your whole terrain has 0 height.
Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
Hmm ok... Seems strange, because the terrain isn't 100% flat... There are at least ~100m changes in height somewhere.
EDIT: The Problem solved itself somehow the surface is now colored!

Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
If there is a height variance, then the terrain in RawToTrn should not be a uniform green rectangle, there should be a pattern of colors ranging from green to white.

Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
I have the same problem!!
And I can not solve it!
Everything goes black !!!
Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
Start from the beginning. When does it happen? After you open newly imported terrain in the Landscape Editor for the first time?

Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
Hello, I've been having a problem with Landscape Editor as well, but for me -- here's what's happening:
(1) after i click on the Landscape dropdown list -- i see the following landscapes, as expected:
Nephi
Randall
Slovenia2
(2) after i click on Slovenia2 or Nephi, the tool works just fine..it works perfectly!
(3) after i click on Randall, however, nothing happens! .. the tool just sits there doing nothing (as if it's still waiting for me to make a selection)
(4) here's a copy-n-paste of what's in my C:\Condor2\Landscapes\Randall\HeightMaps subdirectory (211 files total):
Name - Date Modified - Type - Size

Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
Have you got a .ini file for the scenery?
Condor CN = E20
Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
Hi,
No, i haven't set up a .ini yet for the scenery.
In fact, i just noticed, now, that the .ini file is talked about further on down in the manual, which i haven't gotten to yet.
Any helpful hints or tips before i start drilling down further into the manual?

Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
I think the .trn file is supposed to be in the root folder of your landscape:
C:\Condor2\Landscapes\Randall
There should only be 210 files in:
C:\Condor2\Landscapes\Randall\HeightMaps
210=21x10 ?
Look in the folder for Slovenia2 and compare the locations for files.
When saving the .trn from RAW to TRN, the Landscape Guide says to point to the root folder. Have a look at the bottom of page 20 in the Landscape Guide.
Does this help?

Yes, absolutely, this really did help! .. in fact, it solved the problem!
Your suggestion, to move my Randall.trn file to the root folder (C:\Condor2\Landscapes\Randall) is what did the trick!
Thank you!

Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
I'm glad I could help! Building landscapes is no easy task, and we all need some help.
Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
I have a similar issue.
I am using Landscape Editor and I want to add some objects to an existing landscape (West UK). The scenery is as it should be in the sim, showing textures, however, when I open Landscape Editor and select West UK from the drop down, I get a greyscale texture based on the terrain data (I have draw textures on).
How do I show the photoreal textures in the landscape editor so that I can accurately place objects?

Re: No Textures visible in Landscape Editor
Only the scenery creator can see de textures in cst, you need the working folder for that.
