V2 Landscapes (sceneries) : work in progress / intentions

Post by corlier » Sun Feb 18, 2018 10:34 pm

Hi all,

Due to V2, devellopers like me will have to convert the V1 sceneries they have made (if possible with no loss) ... or more probably they will have to build new ones from 0.

This topic was opened to get info from all the developpers to see on wich landscapes (sceneries) they wil work ... and to avoid multiple versions and time waste.

I will probably work on a TIAN-SHAN V2, and Michel (dgtfer) told me that he will work on AA and CALIFORNIA.

What about the others projects ? Please share your intentions here !

Thanks a lot to all 😊

I'll try to convert my sceneries: LEM, Osorio, Bebedouro, Ionia, BlackMountain and Ipua!
We will see!

I am nearly complete with work on my third and last V1 scenery which is a continuation of the Cape of Storms scenery. I wont be converting the old sceneries but would rather try to make a larger V2 scenery covering the area of both the old ones and more. In future I would like to do more sceneries of South Africa seeing as I live here.

Hey Greg, would love to see a ZA scenery for Condor 2. Especially covering Cape Town and south of it, which as far as I can tell is currently missing in Cape of Storms :)

Namibia would make a very beautiful scenery - realistic sat photo type - ground colours are special!

Yes Jubari, I agree a complete Cape province and Groot Karoo scenery is whats needed (including Cape Town of course!).

From there I will be doing the 1.Kwazulu-Natal and Lesotho Drakensberg mountains and 2.The Northwest province including Potchesfstroom (That is if Rene Queroiz has not done it already, Rene?).

Then later 3.Gariep Dam and the Free State. Possibly other areas in South Africa - will have to see how big a scenery is possible in Landscape Editor for V2.

That should keep me busy for a couple of years - LOL! Or maybe not if I can get the hang of the awesome tools provided to us :)

Regarding scenery size, there are two separate factors.

1) Condor itself IS able to handle large sceneries. V2 is more flexible in this regard than V1.

2) Condor Landscape Toolkit currently does not support large sceneries. Largest that are confirmed to work are about 320 tiles large. This issue is reported and will be looked into after V2 release.

As for my tools, I can safely say that the maximum supported size is currently 25x25 tiles, due to 2 digit coordinates in filenames. I will provide update some time later, if needed.

Thanks JBr. Im sure 25x25 is ample for me to be able to cope with - twice the size of my V1 scenerys and about perfect to cover the areas Im planning on doing.

Well, after downloading data It appears that they are too many points not fixed on the srtm1 BIL 30m for the projected TIAN-SHAN V2. For this reasons, I'm now working on another promising landscape : PNP (Pamirsky National Park) ... some miles away :D Hope you will like it !

@CLT team : How to fix missing alt data ... as we did with 3dem ?

Please, post this question in its own thread here in the Landscape section. You will have higher chance that it will be noticed by some one who can help you.

I think you can open your .bil file in 3dem , and F7 "Patch Missing Data" and save as "Terrain matrix" the resulting ".bin" file has no visible errors when converted to Trn with new RawtoTrn...?! but we need to see the result in LandscapeEditor2...

I used .Tif for Aster30m datas , look good , but need now testing... :D

Andy, Il existe d'autres sources plus propres de données SRTM, surtout en 30m; regardes là:
https://gdex.cr.usgs.gov/gdex/
Les données NASA SRTM 1arcsec sont beaucoup mieux corrigées que les données d'EarthExplorer, et à priori sans trous.
