TchinTchin races community

Post by JFonseca » Sat Nov 09, 2024 9:21 pm

Hi,

Everyday that I can I participate in the TchinTchin races. My main goal is to improve my RL flying skills. I think we could use this forum to teach, learn, clarify our doubts and ask questions.

I can quick it off with a few thoughts/questions:
- We should avoid incentivise people to infringe the rules! In today’s task entering intentionally in Airspace was almost mandatory if you want to win the race.
- I use VR so I cannot use the message system. I know that some users communicate through other software. I was hoping that now we could use radio to communicate but either I don’t know how to use it or everyone is very quiet.
- it would be great if top 3 pilots in each race would comment on their strategy. That would make it easier for people to understand why their strategy was not optimal. When I have the time I download the flight track of the winner and repeat the race following him, but there are times that I don’t understand their reasoning

Thanks for this great community,
Joaquim

The last 2 tchintchin tasks I flew where... well, lets be honest. (really) bad. Tchintchin doesnt take itself too serious in general, the current C3 tasks seem more tests than anything; Im sure the team behind has had their hands full with other things; I get that, and its fine.

But assuming we want to learn at least something form it; indeed making tasks where it pays off to fly in to restricted airspace because 10 penalty points is better than a 50Km detour, is not a great idea. Especially when at the same time my brother got like 100 penalty points for entering the last waypoint (checkpoint close to finish) too high. Enabling plane recovery and height recovery, Im also not a big fan of that. If the argument is you want to make it more accessible, then maybe not plan the task through the most difficult airspace on the map ;)

If you guys need any help making tasks, Im quite willing to give it a try. I dont promise they will be good, we all have to learn the new C3 features and weather model, but at least I promise Ill do my best :)

It's great that you're using the TchinTchin races to sharpen your real-life flying skills! Forums like this are perfect for discussing strategies and tips. To make the races even more valuable, perhaps top finishers could share insights on their strategies after each event. This way, everyone can learn and understand their approaches better. Downloading and analyzing flight tracks, like you mentioned, is also a great way to improve—plus, reaching out to specific pilots for a quick breakdown can offer valuable insights.

As for VR communication, it mig
