Re: Tchin-tchin and Condor updates
Same issue on my side Wiek; I did send a PM to Marc at 19:28, fingers crossed!
Otherwise we will start a server at 45 on FAI Virtual Gliding with the FPL from Tchin-Tchin if you want.
UPDATE: Marc is on it, the servers will launch again soon with 3.0.1.

Re: Tchin-tchin and Condor updates
Just want to give a big THANKS to the task setters. Yesterday and today's task were very good!
Not related to today's flight but here it goes a suggestion: I think it would only be fair if lift helpers, height recovery, airspace entrance, etc have a big penalty. In RL lift helpers and height recovery are not possible, thus do not represent a real issue, but airspace infringment is serious and you can even loose your license!

Re: Tchin-tchin and Condor updates
All these penalties will be put back to their C2 values in the coming weeks.
For the time being we are still experimenting (with the weather, etc) and we want to give a chance to finish the task to the poor guys who might have fallen into a pitfall.
Tchin-tchin flights are not competitions but friendly flights ... and, until now, I haven't seen anyone winning the race with penalty points

Re: Tchin-tchin and Condor updates
Thanks
Another thing that I really appreciate is when you can fly any glider. Even though I really like to fly the JS3 and other gliders, the truth is that in RL I don’t fly them, so would prefer to fly in Condor the same model as I fly in RL.

Re: Tchin-tchin and Condor updates
A task with all gliders (with handicap) still means almost everyone will pick the JS3 or EB29, and anyone who loves to fly the libelle will likely finish in a different time zone, even handicap wont make a dent in the difference. Club class / std class tasks make more sense and allow you to fly most planes in those classes without being hopelessly outclassed, and such tasks do happen on tchintchin. The planes in school class however, are also tough to put in competition, not many people own any besides the free blanik, and racing a Ka8 against a DG1000 isnt really sensible either. I also love (condor) mini LAK, but cant compete in that either :/

The AA3 landscape has been updated on the Tchin-tchin servers:
Patch v0.5 -> v0.6 (2nd release)
Remember to update if you want to be able to fly tonight

Re: Tchin-tchin and Condor updates
My 2 cents, flying a task of ~200km (which I see here a lot) with an open class glider is just a bit pointless, at least for me.

Re: Tchin-tchin and Condor updates
If every glider is allowed, and the points are assigned according to handicap, I think it is a fair race. And for me, more than winning the race, I want to practice and learn, and there's nothing better than practicing in Condor in the same glider as you fly in RL.

Re: Tchin-tchin and Condor updates
For the first time in Condor 3 I got 3 fatal freezes during the same task. The first one I was still waiting for the Aerotow, but the second one was just before starting the task.
It was super frustrating! Because I could not join the race anymore I restarted the same task offline, but after the end of the first climb in the mountains it froze again and I just quit for the day.
Afterwards I just flew for fun the Diamond DA20 in X-Plane, also with VR, but with zero issues.
I tend to believe that the issue might be related to the task/scenery because it happened on and offline. Is there anything I can do in these cases?
On another note, for the realism sake, I admire the waiting line for aerotowing or winch before a race, but in practical terms, it means that we are loosing 30 to 45m of flying time. The time before the race is important to understand the conditions (is the ridge working, how are the thermals, in which side of the clouds the thermals tend to be, etc), but we can also have that with a airstart bellow the maximum starting altitude. I believe that with a airstart we could save easily 30m per day.

Re: Tchin-tchin and Condor updates
Friday tasks from now on will have airstart (and may be slightly longer).
As for the freezing, try reducing visibility range one notch.
