Glider handicap listing

Post by johngfoster » Sun Jan 09, 2022 8:12 am

Is there a link in Condor Club to the official CC handicap listing for all the gliders? As I understand it, CC uses IGC handicaps, whereas Condor2 uses DAeC index. This would affect my choice of glider in some cases.

John,

It's only Club Class that uses IGC for handicap.

When you view a task on CC it states which handicap will be in use for that particular task when results are uploaded to CC. I'll ping you a screenshot on Discord.

Cheers

Only for clubclass it is different. There are no IGC handicaps for the other plane classes.

If a race is school or all class the same handicap as Condor is used. All other classes are not handicapped. If it is a competition task a list of allowed gliders including their handicap is in the briefing. Example:

https://www.condor.club/comp/showtask/208/?id=17126
PH-1504, KOE

Actually 20m class has IGC handicaps too. And after the DAeC handicaps were adjusted there is quite a big difference.

If you multiply Duo index of 1.00 with the factor 113 you get the Condor Index (113). If you do the same with Arcus Index you get 118.65. That's not far away from Condor index of Arcus (120).

The Duo we have in Condor has 750 kg max weigh, and IGC index of 1.01. While the Arcus we have is the pure glider one with IGC index 1.04, so your calculation is not correct for the Condor gliders.

The difference in index is 2.9% vs 6.2%, i.e. more than twice the difference with DAeC index than IGC index.

Oh yes, I didn't consider the different weights. Sorry!
