Creating map for flight training

Post by Dlamore » Tue Jul 20, 2021 4:51 pm

Hello! I’m training to become a real glider pilot, and one area that I’m still having difficulty in is precise control lining up with the runway, holding centerline and flaring. Wishing there was a way to practice these control inputs for a longer period than a few seconds per flight, I was wondering if it might be possible to create a custom map that has one long (or endless) runway on a downward slope that is equal to the rate of descent of the glider? That way, when flying the map, you could create a sustained simulation of a landing approach, giving plenty of time to feel out the controls, build muscle memory and fine tune the inputs to line up and flare properly. Does anyone have experience making maps who can tell me if this is possible and point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Sloping runways are not available in Condor, they have to be flat

It must not be a runway, you can land wherever you want. If you have a hill with a texture of a runway on it, it will go. But isn't it too much? Take a usually airport, land on it, press Q and you are back in 500 meters to land again. See in the settings of the task to allow Q (Allow plane recovery in NOTAM)

When setting up your flight, enable Allow plane recovery and Allow height recovery in the NOTAM tab. That way you can use the "miracle" key ( q by default ) to get back up in the air immediately.

Ah, 6266 beat me to it. :D
