Gold badge altitude

Post by jeroendv » Sat Apr 11, 2020 1:25 pm

Hello,

I did the gold badge today on teheran and i did more then 2 hours and 216km so i got those 2 things.
Now i still need the 3000m altitude gain. Is there a way that i can see how much altitude i have gained during the flight?
I thought i had enough gains during the flight i did but it was only 2130m...
Or does it mean i have to fly to 3000m AGL?

You have to make a 3000 m altitude gain above the lowest point in the flight (after release from tow or winch).
Use paper & pencil to write it down if needed.

See there : https://www.condor-club.eu/badge/147/?badge=2

Thanks, so i need to release from tow, then lose 100m and then gain 3000m from there.

I thought i had to gain 3000m over the entire flight...

If you release at 1100m AMSL, then descend to 1000m AMSL and then climb to 4000m AMSL.

After a few tries i got the gold badge, i learned a lot more during trial and error.
Did the flight above pyrenées and once i was on top of a mountain i started gaining a lot of altitude, stopped with 4600m gain.

Oh one more thing: can you pause your flight for a few minutes in the diamond badge task?

Yes.
As far as I know, pause is not recorded in the .ftr file
I have submitted some single-player FTRs to CC, I'm sure I used PAUSE more than once, all were accepted.

This is a wonder, in offline flying: you can park your glider in the top of a good climb, go for lunch, have a rest, whatever, and when ready, resume flight 😎

Since I'm very new to this (just over 40h in Condor 2 and no real life experience) maybe one of you more experience pilots can help me to find an answer to this dilemma:
anywhere I find a good thermal that could potentially lift me over 3000m there are also clouds. I get to the bottom of the cloud and then what... :?:

And then, use ridges lift and wave lift!

The best is to find a ridge in accordance with wave-length!

The lift is then very strong. 8)
