I think I may be right in saying you may avoid this problem if you use the Condor Updater!

Except, as I have previously noted, the updater does not work for many people. I'm in the Pacific Northwest of the US and I have a very fast internet connection and computer, I worked in the tech industry for over 15 years and typically assemble my own systems. I'm not a newbie.

I have NEVER been able to get the updater to complete the download process for ANY landscape. Multiple tries, I'm also a premium member of Condor-club and that doesn't seem to make any difference.

I'm not really complaining as I'm able to do the whole process using the zip files, but just telling people that they should use the updater is not going to work for everyone, and could be a point of frustration that drives people away from the use of Condor.

I think most of us are very happy and actively encourage new Condor users, we just need to be careful with blanket statements. I've helped a lot of new Condor pilot get set up. They watch what I'm doing to install and set up their computer, pedals, joystick (with assigned input keys) and often remark "Wow, that was a lot more work that I thought it would be." Most new users are not able to get it set up well on their own.

I don't think many of us remember our growth though the process of becoming proficient with Condor.

Wrong statement :)
Look at current downloads, Condor Update use is displayed in italic. Almost everyone is using it and I have really not much complaints.
You could try with another mirror (run speed test in Your account) and if the problem persists, send me the log file (in <drive>:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Condor Updater

I have run the speed test, but I wasn't able to find a setting in the updater to specify which mirror it should use. I did download it and did a fresh install. I tried to get another landscape and it hung up at 6% for hours and I finally canceled the download.

How do I tell the updater to use Mirror #3?

Speed test results are saved, and mirrors are choosen accordingly to their speed (and slot availability). If mirror 3 is faster then you will download from it (if the file is available there and if there is a slot). If not, it'll try from the second faster mirror and so on.

You may restart speed test, results can change(*) so the mirrors order.

(*) regular downloads are running on servers when the test occurs, then it impacts (a bit) the overall result.

I have another computer set up with the updater, and it seems to be working better there. Both are on the same network, wired connection, and the one that's working has a slower processor and less memory.

Go figure!?
