Task Scoring - Am I doing something wrong?

Hey guys, I'm quite new to condor and completing tasks. Looking at the score sheet from my latest flights and my Silver Badge, I'm seeing huge score penalties for my flights. I'm curious if some settings are incorrect in my task, thus causing the issue with scoring.
I assume I did things correctly. I downloaded the task, landscape, and uploaded them without changing any of the settings for the task (as far as I am aware). I chose one of the allowed planes for the task and jumped in.
Could anyone provide any indication as to why my score is being penalized so much and what I can do about it, that would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe I am reading the scoring wrong? Under the Penalty Scoring points, It is listing 100 for a bunch of them. Is that not points deducted from my score?

No it is not, these are the task settings from Condor. These are the potential penalties you could get for the infringements listed.

The scores you have above are 1 point per kilometer flown divided by the handicap of the plane. For example 27,97 NM is 51,8 km. So 51.8 points/0,78 = 66,4 points

The penalty points are for flying competitions. They will be applied by Condor and you can see them when pressing TAB in Condor. They get applied to the 1000 point scoring system used for competitions, not for the "OLC" style points I explained above.

Ah, that makes more sense.
Looking at the scores of those who have completed this task, the top score is 1000 pts and it took them about half an hour. If I improve my time, will that improve my score?

The 60-something score you get for your flights is just a distance based score which is used for the annual pilot ranking

The 1000 points scores are used only for competitions or performance ranking for a given task and are based both on average speed and distance flown
In order to score on that list (which you haven't yet as far as I can see), you must upload your flight in the "Best performance" tab
